Seria A: AC Milan v Palermo
MATCH PREVIEW
Serie A Week 10 - 2 Nov 2014 (19.45 UK)
Milan - Palermo
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
Palermo
Milan
Recently-promoted Palermo will hope to cause an upset as they take on Milan at San Siro this Sunday.
In the midweek fixtures, the Rosanero finally got their second win of the season against Chievo to help them up the table whilst the Rossoneri dropped another two points in a frustrating draw with Cagliari.
It has not been an easy return to Serie A for the visitors, who have spent the past couple of seasons bouncing back and forth between the two levels. Their victory over the Flying Donkeys was the first time all season Giuseppe Iachini’s men have not conceded, but hero of the evening Luca Rigoni will miss this match due to suspension. Nonetheless, they were able to earn draws against Napoli and Inter and hence have shown that they do have it within them to put up a good fight.
Meanwhile, Filippo Inzaghi’s troops will hope to win their third home game of the season after two consecutive draws. Many of the players will be feeling the pressure to step it up, namely Chelsea loanee Fernando Torres, who has just scored once since his arrival.
Young attacker Stephan El Shaarawy is another that will hope to finally score his first League goal after seeing his blistering run in the 2012-13 campaign turn into a nightmare the following one due to injuries that kept him mostly on the sidelines.
Whilst the Rossoneri have the highest scoring attack in the League with 18 goals, they, like their opponents have not been solid at the back with 12 and 17 goals conceded respectively. As a result, fans and neutrals could be in for some end-to-end action as both teams hope to keep climbing the table.
Keep an eye on: Keisuke Honda (Milan) - The Japan international has been in sparkling form under new Coach Inzaghi. Six goals already sees him second on the scoring charts, and whilst he has not netted since his brace against Hellas Verona, he can still influence a game as he showed with his assist for Giacomo Bonaventura’s equalising goal against Cagliari.
Form Guide: Milan (D W W D D) Palermo (L L W L W)
Last season: Not played
Stat fact: Interestingly, despite their seven-point gap, Milan, just like Palermo, have earned only one clean sheet so far. Coincidentally, they just so happen to have done it against the same opponent - Chievo.
Milan (probable): Abbiati; Abate, Alex, Rami; De Sciglio; Bonaventura, De Jong, Poli; Honda, Torres, El Shaarawy
Suspended: Muntari
Palermo (probable): Sorrentino; Munoz, Gonzalez; Andelkovic; Morganella, Bolzoni, Maresca, Barreto, Lazaar; Vazquez, Dybala
Suspended: Rigoni
