Lazio was strong and yet the core of that team got bum-raped by Valencia in stupendous fashion. They were never a European force despite buying a Scudetto by investing $120 million in one Summer in those days!
Inter has spent bucket loads but the thing is that this Inter is a balanced football side that is beginning to understand Mourinho and what he requires from his players. Mourinho used to say in his Chelsea days that the first year was for him to evaluate what his team was capable of. In the second year, his side would show improvements. In the third year they would be on par with his thinking and in the fourth year they would be complete.
This Inter is dangerous. The only shot we have at the Scudetto is as you say ... they are perhaps bored of the Scudetto now ... they have CSKA in the QF now and obviously can start to believe that they have a good chance to get to the SF and I would say the final! I think this is the first time in many decades that Inter can think of a UCL FINAL.
Scudetto may go down to the wire but I wouldn't keep my hopes up. A fully fit Milan had a good shot. This half team doesn't have much of a chance IMO.i follow italian football since 1993/94 and since then i have never experienced a single season Milan and Juve to fight each other for the title. It was either Juve - Inter, Juve - Roma, Milan - Lazio...etc.
In 1999, i remember well Juve did help Milan win the Scudetto. Firstly they beat Lazio i think away( Henry scored twice) and then Milan beat them in Turin. It had never happened Milan beat Juve in Turin, especially in those years where Milan were hit be deep result crisis.
Few years later as we won the Scudetto with Carlo, again, Milan managed to beat Juve away. It smells to me always like a partnership btw Milan and Juve when it comes to the domestic league.
If we can pull the race until the last day of the season(we face Juve) we will win the Scudetto!
