The Avengers made $207m on the opening weekend making it the biggest opening in cinematic history and basically covering its entire cost and then some in two days!

It is expected to become the first movie in history to rake in over a $100m in each of its weeks!

Critics are saying that it is the best comic movie adaptation of all time. I am telling you guys ..... DO NOT MISS IT. You will be lured into repeat viewings. It is that good!

The Avengers has raked in $654.8m globally in 12 days!!! It is on track to become the fastest movie to $1b inside a month and beat Avatar's record.

The Avengers has the record for the biggest opening in movie history and it could become the first movie ever to rake in over a $100m in its first two weekends. Avatar clocked out at $75.5m in its second weekend.

I think "The Dark Knight Rises" releasing on July 20, 2012 has to do something extraordinary to beat these numbers.

Disney bought Marvel for $4b in 2009 IIRC. What a ROI! Iron-Man, Iron-Man II, Thor, Captain America and now The Avengers which is shattering all box office records as it rightly should because it is on a whole different level. Most probably the greatest comic movie ever made!

That $4b spent by Bob Iger looks like peanuts now as Avengers alone is going to cross $1.5b at the very least!

I told Papi to invest in The Avengers a year ago as it was going to be a sure-fire hit. He could easily lend us $100m then for the club! . If he is smart he should invest in Thor 2 (2013), Iron-Man 3 (2013), Captain America 2 (2014) and The Avengers 2 (2015). We will have our new stadium by 2016 easily. Just invest EUR 100m. It will quintuple easily!

don't make fun of papi we would all have spend all our savings into it!

just curious... how much does a IMAX/3D cinema ticket cost over there?

a month ago or something i went to this Titans movie (which imo was also really good) but 3 persons 52,- euro.
i'm not going that often and can't really care about it, but do know that 2/3 years ago a cinema ticket costed 7/8 euros. (before 3D)

    A 3D ticket WITH glasses costs PKR 600 which is ~EUR 5.25 / 4 GBP

A 3D ticket WITHOUT glasses (you can reuse them) costs PKR 400 which is ~EUR 3.5 / GBP 2.75

The good news is that the cinema pisses all over most of the cinemas in Europe. It has a reference grade Barco projector and a reference level sound system. The picture is very crisp and clear and the acoustics in the cinema are really good. Plus, the added benefit is that you are bound to see at least 75 hot chicks in every show of a blockbuster. Something that you simply don't get in Europe. When I say hot, I mean hot!

Don't forget that Pakistan's GDP is much lower than the GDP of Western Europe so EUR 5.25 for a ticket is like EUR 10 over there because you have to compare it with the earning etc. as well. In Western Europe the inflation is 2-5%. Pakistan's inflation according to estimates could be over 30%

The cinema has 1 screen only because having a cineplex with this sort of equipment would be astronomical in costs IMO.
