Ian,
Englishmen are generally pretty bad at penalty kicks. The Dutch and Italians are pretty bad. Teddy Sheringham commented after ET [prior to PKs] that penalties are not about luck because the Germans seem to consistently win shoot-outs.
Personally, I feel that Alan Shearer was a magnificent English penalty kick taker. He stands out from the rest. Brasilians are pretty good as well. Dunga was class at PKs. But R10 is shit IMHO. He is more about action than substance. Same is the case when he takes FKs although he is better than all of the Milan members which says a lot about how poor we are at FKs.
I always take note of penalty kick takers and see which ones go for the high kicks in the top corner. That takes more balls and a bucket load of confidence in your own ability.

Gurre,
Tevez was better than Rooney. Alice always prefers the thugs to play for him. He likes the bad boys as he believes these tough guys perform better and handle the pressure a lot better than ponies. I do agree with him to an extent in this thinking. As an example .... I think Cassano would be bloody awesome at United as he is custom built for a team like Utd. IMO. I think if Cassano had more pace and running in his game he would be Priority Number 1 for Slurgy.
Tevez, Terry, Drogba and all the players involved in that melee made a hash of that incident IMO. It was not required.
------------------------
Anyway, it is done now and we have to build a strong team to compete in the UCL again. Participating in it is not enough. We simply can not build a team to win the Scudetto ... it has to be a Grand Milan. That is what we are. We can't buy a bunch of promising youngsters with a question mark of them excelling and what not .... buy a mixture and for heaven's sake it is high time to spend big and spend wisely. I don't want 8 clowns. I'd prefer that 4 of them are top notch match winners which can instantly cause a positive effect and 4 of them are good who can become very good or perhaps great as well!
R10, Flamini, Zambrotta, Drogba (Gurre rightly pointed out that he is the ideal replacement for Inzaghi), Frey is a good start.
Those are 5 top buys .... After that we require a central defender and 1 full-back and we have a monster team on our hands.
A front line comprising of R10, Drogba, Kaka, is awesome. I hate the Traitor and I will be honest here. He is not the type of striker who can play as a solo striker up front. He failed at that in Milan as well IMO. Pippo excelled in that regard! Drogba will as well. I don't think that Berbatov will excel as a solo striker. Amauri on the other hand may perhaps excel.
So we have to look at our primary formation and our secondary formation when purchasing. I don't think we can go wrong with Drogba or Berbatov but Drogba is somebody who Carlo likes .... He is strong, well built, good in the air, good with both feet, fast and a brilliant target man. These are the characteristics that Carlo has wanted in his strikers for a long time. It failed with Vieri, LOLiveira etc. but it should work with Drogba IMO.
