HT: 2-1. A fairly nice display. We've looked irresistable at times, combining wonderfully well at pace but just lacking that final ball.

Gourcuff's had an encouraging half, IMO. He hasn't always picked the right pass but he's positive in everything he does which goes a long way to appeasing me.

One way traffic for the whole half, and the Empoli goal was the type which normally ends up in row z 99/100 times.

We played quite well, although occasionally a bit disjointed - too many moves came to abrupt halts - mostly, I'm afraid, by an indifferent and verging on poor show from Kaka.

Gila was absolutely abysmal, so trust him to produce a wonderful goal

Ronaldo's finish was also superb, and he really looks like he's getting to his best - looks like he's enjoying his football more these days.

Defence has not been tested that much, but it's a second string back line.

Pirlo was our best player in the first half imo - he followed on his superb display on Tuesday with another.

When he plays like that it's a joy to behold.
