Serie A Ac Milan vs Chievo

    Milan - Chievo

    Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Milan and Chievo meet at the San Siro the result will be crucial to both sides’ European ambitions. For the home team that is an automatic Champions League spot via second place while for the Flying Donkeys it simply means qualifying for European competition. They are both currently two points ahead of their respective rivals and a win here is crucial in keeping them on track to achieving their goals.

The Rossoneri will definitely be on a high going into this match after their miraculous last gasp qualification for this year’s Champions League semi-finals. All had looked lost with 10 minutes to go before Filippo Inzaghi and Andriy Shevchenko popped up to save the team after a below par performance.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that confidence boost can remove the memory of last week’s shock defeat at Lecce. Carletto must also be glad that the likes of Paolo Maldini and Marcos Cafu are now approaching full fitness after their long absences and will be looking to their experience to make the difference in the final matches. They should make up for the injury to Jaap Stam in a defence that has only conceded twice in their last seven fixtures.

Chievo have never beaten Milan at the San Siro but getting their first now would be a massive help to their European cause. The Gialloblu need to hold on to their sixth place position to qualify for the UEFA Cup but Lazio are hot on their heels.

Luckily the Veronese outfit have hit form at just the right time and last week’s win over fellow European hopefuls Livorno put them in the ideal position to show just why they are known as Serie A’s biggest overachievers. The young strike partnership of Carvalho Amauri and Victor Obinna has also peaked in recent weeks. Their combined total of six goals in three games has been crucial to Chievo’s rise into the top six.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan: Dida; Maldini, Nesta, Kaladze, Serginho; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Kaka; Gilardino, Shevchenko

Chievo: Fontana; Moro, Mandelli, D’Anna, Lanna; Semioli, Brighi, Zanchetta, Franceschini; Amauri, Obinna

    IMHO:

    Dida
    Cafù-Nesta-Kaladze-Maldini
    Gattuso-Pirlo-Seedorf
    Kaká
    Inzaghi-Gilardino

Pirlo is one booking away from suspension, if he gets booked on sunday, he will miss the Inter game.

if it is a fact you can also say, that pirlo brings the best in for the rest of the team, because if they play the whole season with one man less, they did a great job.

bot offcourse imo it's bull**** to say that. pirlo can be very important for us
