The overall story was superb and even though I guessed that Leo would be Leadus, I didn't guess the whole investigation would be a set up allowing him to live his alternate fanstasy in order to lure him back to the island.

Are you sure about the underlined part? Because Kingsley mentioned that if this didn't work then he could not be cured and he still looked like a nutter at the end.
I agree that Di Caprio is the best of his generation now. I wasn't a fan of him in the past. He has come a long way from Romeo & Juliet / Titanic to this point. Now, he has screen presence and Body of Lies, Blood Diamond, The Departed & Shutter Island (haven't seen Inception as yet) are a testament to his acting prowess. I also think that because he has aged, he can take on these roles in better shape now. He doesn't look like a kid anymore. Blood Diamond showed us a new Di Caprio IMO. He hasn't looked back ever since.
Yeah I'm sure on the underlined part :p
I got the impression that his treatment worked and when he's on the step with his doctor/partner he is thinking and there is almost an admission/realisation that he wants to end the torture of his past, he then turns calmly to his doctor/partner and starts talking about finding the answers about the island. The way he says it led me to believe that he has made a decision!
It is so cleverly written, the patient who writes 'run' on his pad leads
you down a different thought process doesn't it, like he's in danger
I believe your theory Drewey! :d You have a gift perhaps in reading through these scripts before they reach the end.
Speaking of which .... what were your thoughts when LOST reached the middle of its last season? 9-10 episode ... I am talking about then.
I was sorely pissed as they were not coming up with answers and instead new bloody questions kept popping. I knew they couldn't wrap it up properly with so few episodes left! :P
Super song .... it's not a new song and the video is not excellent but the song is excellent and addictive. This thread needs some music discussion as well. :)

I have done a bit of reading on Shutter Island and people seem to be advocating both possible endings. One even suggested he wasn't mad
at all and that the doctors tricked him into thinking he was.
The plot seems to hinge around the scene on the steps, whether or not you believe He is cured and wants to forget all the bad
things, or whether he's still bonkers :d
as for LOST we all got very frustrated with more questions than answers, in fact up until the episode about Alperts life back in the 17th century or whenever it was, I was slating lost!
The episode about jacob an his brother was good, but I saw it coming as the whole thing smacked of a Christianity parody.
Jacob and his brother
black and White!
Also in Catholicism when a pope dies the preferiti have to choose a succesor and whenever they fail to make a decision they omit black smoke from the vatican, as the LOST story centered on a 'successor' to Jacob I expected the 'successor' to adopt White smoke form, as when the new pope is chosen the Vatican omits White smoke.
Also, somethig I missed, jacks dad is called 'Christian Shepherd' both words of paramount importance in Christianity
LOST was possibly the most annoying show ever, it never lived up to it's potential, and I think the writers chose the easy option by ultimately focussing on the characters and not the island an it's mysteries.
Ultimately they covered up there lack of continuity with a sad pull at the heart strings ending.
The successes were Jinn's redemption, almost Anakin esque, and the Ven Linus Character.
The writers admitted that the 'flash sideways' idea materialised in series four, so the previous three seasons couldn't have been that integral to the last ones.
I am one of those who believes that Di Caprio's character was not a nutter in Shutter Island but the entire hospital made him into one nutter because of the injections and actions of the staff.
But that has one disadvantage as it makes the plot ever so straight-forward and simple so I buy into your perception of the movie. It makes you think for sure. These types of movies are always good. :)
As for the LOST review, yes it makes a lot of sense that a lot of it is linked to Christianity with Jacob [Jacob's Ladder], Black Smoke/White Smoke analogy [good one, I didn't pick up on that], Christian Shepherd etc. It has a religious undertone to it for sure.
I do think that after the fantastic first few seasons (till 5) the writers probably got carried away and started drifting into a fantasy world where logic started taking a backseat. Then, it became difficult to backtrack and the fear of the internet frenzy discussions on the possible endings and reasons freaked them out so much so that the eventual ending was what they were left with to possibly satisfy users.
LOST is not the only one though. There are quite a few good TV series with pathetic endings and many questions left unanswered. I guess it helps to keep the hype up and discussion on-going. The biggest example is you and me still discussing it with long posts! :d
The purpose of LOST is to get the viewers LOST after the last episode. We're LOST discussing the reasons for the ending! :d
Absolutely right, LOST succeeded on the level of people endlessly discussing it.
After season one lots thought it was a parody of purgatory, and it all went online, and like you say I think the writers panicked that people had 'got it'
then as younsay they wen mental on the coffee, red bull and creative thinking and LOST became what it is.
Then they thought Shit! One season to tie it up........let's make it sad and emotional!
I have been thinking about your comment on the Sawyer/Julliet reunion, and it gives me goosebumps, it truly was a great tv moment!
Another interesting theory was that the flashsideways were all jacks visions as he lay in purgatory and that they were all his perfect
scenarios for everyone, ie he blamed himself for julliet so he wanted her and sawyer to reunite, and that Hurley would become important, and that Sayid would start I do good and save his family.
As for your theory on shutter island being the straightforward plot, perhaps that is the twist! The fact that it was straight forward. It ays with the viewers take on reality
You will notice similarities when you watch Inception
Haroon, with regards to you looking for a series to watch might I suggest Life on Mars, unless you've already seen it? If you haven't seen it the story revolves around a policeman called Sam Tyler who after an accident wakes up in the 70's. The real star of the show though is detective inspector Gene Hunt - IMO the best character ever to grace tv screens:). There were two series and a spin off called Ashes to ashes which wasn't as good. I can highly recommend it though.
Ian,
I like TV series with a bit of tits and bum as well. A sausage fest is not my cup of tea per se. It's very important for a good series to have diversity if you know what I mean. :d
So, I ask again .... is Life on Mars a good series for me? :P
if any of the duo ian or drew reccoments something..... it's a sausage fest for sho!
harooney wants to watch to blondies in orange bikini's who are supersmart en solve mistery's by bending over to pick up evidence :D
Filli
on facebook you confessed to knowing about gaytube!?
Whatever that is!
I hear that top your list of Blondes in bikinis is Dolph Lundgren
Drewwy everybody on facebook can read that you brought up gaytube in such a confident way that you can't be a stranger from it! i won't even be surprised if you are the founder of it! :)
and i didn't confess i only said that i wonder how many hits you would have on that site... and i wonder because i don't know, and i don't know because i don't look at such site (if it even exist).
So that leads us back to you as the only official DM gaytube user doesn't it?
Ha! don't be surprised you are caught by a superb sexy blonde in orange bikine..... ME! :D
I'm only gay for you filli :d
I admit I typed Dutch homo with small penis into Gaytube and a picture of you came up :p
even for a gaylord like you it's a kinda embarrasing to search the internet for dutch gay's with small penis :D
Guys,
Don't bother watching MacGruber! It's a pathetic waste of time. I don't know how some critics liked that movie. It is ridiculously bad. It has a couple of moments of gross stupidity which makes ones laugh but overall it is a very ordinary movie.
I saw an episode of Mad Men (Season 2) yesterday as it was on the TV. I thought I should check it out before purchasing a Season 1 box set. Maybe, It was not engrossing enough because I picked a random episode to see? I would say that it was not pacy enough. However, there is a chic in Mad Men with a huge rack! ^^
Big Rack. Make me stop whatever I'm doing :d
His royal gayness princess fillipina of Eindhoven
Yeah Haroon you gotta give it some episodes. Once you start caring for the characters and know who they are then the show becomes great :D
Say hello to big rack:
EDIT: Can't paste the proper gif here so just see for yourself http://media.photobucket.com/image/m.../joan.gif?o=20
Thank you for showing me the light Brick!
I will get Season 1 now! :P
Haha I love how Brick swoops in and adds some sense to the thread as me and Ian are destroying filli :d
I love that Oranje!
I googles the girl from Mad Men, and CHA CHING!! She is hot! Very hot!
What is mad men about? Might have to have a look myself:)
And Drew, wait til the Oranje queen gets some decent games for his mighty PS3 - then it will be me, Haroon and even Walker who will destroy him online:P He will want to go back to his x box once we're done with him:o:d
Get yourself a PS3 Drew and join us:)
Lol I may well do that, I used to play pro evo online but got fed up with kids scoring the SAME goal everytime!
Drewwie i thought that you hitted rock bottom with you internet search journey for small wieners....
But damn using it to make money that's just really pathetic, ladies and gentlemen i present to you drew at work:
http://usayisay.com/wp-content/uploa...mall-penis.jpg

http://www.caltechgirlsworld.mu.nu/a...dude%20PS2.JPG
okokok i'll pretend to mix in on the on topic part, otherwise mau will complain....
i don't like series, only series i like is Ultimate survival with bear grills, deathliest catch and whalehunters.
this week i watched 2 movies, first grown ups, which i thought was ok but really not that funny....
and just watched expendables, which was also Ok, but jet li had a legendary joke it, just brilliant :)
So, while this is an entertainment thread let me finish with the shortest fairytale in the world:
once there was a guy, who asked a girl to marry him.
The girl said No
The boy lived happylie ever after.
the end.
Lol Filli, did you Photoshop that PS3 controller in? :d
that's awful work dude lol
just remember I am a designer and on Photoshop I can make you look or do anything ;)
ps
where did you find the small penis picture :d
don't pretend that you don't know where i found you :D
now hurry up and buy a PS3 í'll kick your asses in an orange vs engshit game
(this week for the first time went online with fifa wc edition, some kid beated me with 7-0) :)
then i went online with modern warfare 10min of killing eachother turned out to be 10 min of everybody killing me :)
I foun that in Pro Evo all the onliners realised
that all you had to do Was run into the box, draw the keeper out, pass
sideways and tap into empty net!
Very dull, noone wanted to try and play
good football or score good goals
Filli I love you and I have missed your ramblings :d
Fifa is a lot tougher now, and it's more realistic. Unfortunately you still get those who always take real or barfa and just give the ball to Messi or CR, I prefer just getting random teams of the same rating - I've had some good games with some Mexican 3 star teams:)
Get yourself a PS3 Drew and buy Fifa 10(or 11 when we all get it) and I'll sort a league for us to play each other.
you love many men so it doesn't really makes me feel special drew! :)
and Ian i'll wait for 2011 fifa i guess. the WC version is really cool so no need to do a step back to 2010 fifa...
Drewwie the new fifa games you don't have these stupid programmed goalscoring faults. so just buy it and play!
btw drew sign up for the prediction league, you chicken!
FIFA 11 looks to be an even more awesome game IMO. Check out the clips on YouTube.
The ball control and turn of players is even more smooth. Now you can hit the low shots into goal that roll on the ground. They also have the skilled flicks and moves depending on the player. This is more prominent now than in the past.
I played it on Gamescom at Köln Germany 3 weeks ago, very great, even better then Fifa 10 !!! Ball control and palyers react even better ! Can't wait
I saw Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time over the football busy weekend. It was a nice entertaining flick.
The Bruckheimer production was quite good for a movie based on a video game. Jake Gyllenhaal seemed to suit the role of the Prince and Gemma Arterton looked ravishing. She could have used a better hairstyle though as that put a dampener on her outlook. Sound effects were really good especially when somebody pressed the button.
----- Spoiler Alert -----
Kingsley being the villain once again in this movie took me back to Shutter Island where I think that he was the devious doctor rather than Di Caprio being the cuckoo one. Additionally, the rainstorm in the movie wasn't fabricated. It was a natural rainstorm so all this couldn't have been a situation created for Di Caprio where he was forced to stay back.
The Karate Kid [2010] has been the best movie I have seen this year for sure. I found it to be better than Shutter Island. It was a remake of a good movie but this movie had far more depth and preparation in the script and screenplay. It was a very nice look into the extremely disciplined world of Kung Fu and a very very nice journey into Chinese culture which is very rich and old.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The hardwork put in by Jaden Smith (Dre Parker) who is Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith's son was evident. This movie surely took its time to prepare. It was very well done IMO. Jackie Chan was perfect for the role of Mr. Han. The movie also had very nice light-hearted moments. It was engrossing. I highly recommend it.
