Hard to pinpoint the genre, but Dexter is mainly a drama show with some thriller influences. But it's funny as well, but in the black/morbid way.

The show is about a police blood splatter investigator at Miamo Metro, with somewhat of a dark past. His quest in life is to remove unconvicted (but guilty) killers from society. You could say he is a serial killer with a very interesting pattern. :D

And Prison Break... that is some pathetic stuff! :D As soon as they actually broke out of that prison, the concept was stone cold dead...

I thought that Ricky Gervais was one of the creators of "The Office" but after some searching have found out that there was an original version. I love Ricky's acting and sense of humour. ^^ He's awesome IMO. I must check out the UK version although I haven't seen it in stores as the US version is the only one available.


Edit: IMDB says only three seasons and only 14 episodes? What's up with that Drew? How can a good show finish so quickly? The US version starring Steve Carrell is into it's 6th season which signifies that it is doing rather well.

Well, there was a very lame attempt to put the lot in jail once again in Sona [Season 3] and then another successful attempt to get out from the Prison where nobody had gotten out of! Ridiculous beyond measure.

I concur. The name actually gave it away. The only suspense was how they would get out. I had a fit when I saw the fat dude drop while hanging from the rope in the second last episode of Season 1 as he was crossing to the boundary wall. His weight did him no favours! :d

Overall, Prison Break was a huge letdown and waste of time. It got more ridiculous with addition of new episodes.

Samsung Series 8 LED TVs are excellent. I highly recommend them.

I would risk a 55" purchase. Fights are temporary but the screen size is permanent unless you swap it for a new one. :d Buy a gift for the missus ... women are suckers for gifts and surprises.

It's high time that Berlusphony and Gaylliani invest in Avatar II so that they can earn enough money to enjoy their lives and also hand over a transfer kitty of $75 million for Milan. :d

I want Avatar to do really well. It's elevation of the art. This movie will positively fast-forward the best video technology to our homes. This is the game changer. I reckon that once the movie starts to get more viewers and the word spreads we could have a really big cash cow on our hands.

3D capable Blu-Ray players will be released at the end of next year. I love this hobby but I hate the upgrades. :d

It earned more than $77 million in the domestic box office and more than $160 million worldwide making it the biggest opening ever for a December release beating that Will Smith tripe I am (not a) Legend.

Moving on to other movies. I finally got to see "Inglourious Basterds" in all its glory and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. This has to be Tarantino's best work. What a movie! :)

The character building, the powerful dialogue and the intensity under the calmness of the situation is just magnificent. It also has touches of humour at just the right times which make you giggle a bit! :d

Brad Pitt acting as an Italian is icing on the cake! Gorlaaaami. :P

Christoph Waltz as Col. Hans Landa gave a memorable performance.

Tarantino has gone one better on Kill Bill which was very good in its own right IMO.

I saw Antichrist the other day. Wouldn't say it's great, but it's so very different. These days when I watch movie I often get a deja vu. Like you've seen the movie before. I hate that! :D

Besides that it's also a good movie, that's why I liked Antichrist. It was sick, demented and different.

As for Avatar, I haven't seen that one. But I am being sceptic. I hope it's not only eye candy.

it is mainly eye candy mate, the story is very predictable form minute 10 really, you will instantly recognize the plot from other movies. It is though a beautiful film, i am a designer, and it is right up my street with the designs of every detail, form vehicles right through to the smallest plant life! It is a stunning visual experience.

Well, I think that Cameron's aim with Avatar was to take the audience on a journey to Pandora so his focus was primarily on making that happen. The storyline is predictable and one can decipher the plot by just looking at the trailer. The story is simple and has been done previously in many movies. It is the journey and the entire experience of the audience actually being on planet Pandora which is the game-changer for 3D cinema and cinema in general.

The movie has grossed a whopping $1 billion worldwide [4th highest grosser of all time] which means that Cameron is now eligible to charge his full fee for directing this visual masterpiece. Cameron said that he would not charge the producers and studio his director's fee if the movie didn't earn as much profit but now the world's most expensive production to date has doubled up on profits and is likely to break a few records. :)

20th Century Fox had a pretty lame Summer if you guys recall but they are eating up all the Hollywood studios with this movie.

Avatar will be released in two versions on Blu-ray. The first version on Blu-Ray will be out by May 2010 or thereabouts. It will be a standard 2D version in 1080p glory. The second version will be released in Q4 2010 which will be the 3D version and perhaps the first proper 3D Blu-ray movie.

I have heard of Daybreakers but haven't checked out the trailer. It could be good but it could equally be a lame movie.

When is the next Shitelight Saga movie due? Shitelight and Shitelight Saga: New Buffoon made quite a stir worldwide although I haven't bothered seeing them as yet. Perhaps when all 4 movies are out, I will have a weekend marathon to make a big mistake.

Clash of the Titans

It's being released in March. It will star Sam Worthington who is known worldwide now. It's a remake of the 80's flick with much stronger CGI and hopefully a more solid plot this time.


Iron Man II

Robert Downey Jr. returns as Iron Man. Don Cheadle slots in to replace the he-bitch sidekick. Cheadle will be The War Machine. Mickey Rourke will be the villain as Whiplash. Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts and Scarlet Johansson will also start in this hugely anticipated sequel from Paramount.

My wish is that Favreau includes AC/DC's fantastic "WAR MACHINE" and Metallica's "WHIPLASH" in the movie. It's gonna rock.


Shrek the 4th

The usual cast returns for this 4th installment. I liked the first one and loved the 2nd one. But I thought the 3rd one was dire. I hope the 4th one returns to the glory days. Let's see.


Toy Story III

This could be the biggest movie of the Summer. The name says it all.

Robin Hood

Ridley Scott re-teams with Russell Crowe to bring back Robin Hood with an English accent this time. :d Cate Blanchet will be Maid Marian. The team that brought you Gladiator is sure to entertain in what might be the best Robin Hood adaptation to date.

Liam Neeson will lead his A-Team in what looks like an entertaining adaptation of the popular series from the 80s.


Pirates of the Caribbean: On Dangerous Tides

Captain Jack Sparrow who is the most awesome queer pirate I have ever seen will return to rock his awesome boat ...The Black Pearl ... which he loses from time to time. :d There will be fun, laughs, fights, battles, twists, mystery and R-U-M!

Travolta in an action flick. Looks interesting.

I don't know much about it but I usually like Denzel Washington's movies.

All the movies are Summer movies except the Travolta and Washington flicks. Worthington's COTT is coming in March.

It looks like a decent year for movies.

2009 was a record year for Hollywood thanks to Avatar and Transformers mainly.

Saw Sherlock Holmes ..... my worst fears were realized as Downey Jr. was over-doing it in the movie to the extent that it looked fake.

I did like the setting for part 2 as Holmes chases Moriarty. That one will be much better IMO.


I saw UP IN THE AIR. Good movie but not a popcorn flick. Next up in the queue is DEFENDOR and THE INFORMANT. Yes, I am that far behind. Please don't make jokes! :d The cinemas here are not to my standard so I wait for the DVDs and for the really sureshot ones like Avatar, I buy the Blu-Rays! It's only a wait of 6 months and I am used to it by now.


Finished seeing the 5th season of LOST. Breathed a sigh of relief that Juliet still lives. I think Doc, Sayid and Kate are the biggest nutjobs. Sawyer, Hurley, Juliet and Miles are the normal ones.

Locke even though is the biggest nutter on the surface but it still seems that the guy knows what he is doing so I think he is the wise old owl who is ahead of the curve.

The three stooges [Doc, Kate, Sayid] are the root of all things stupid happening to the Oceanic passengers.

Waiting for the next season of ENTOURAGE. It's a really good show IMO. I am definitely buying the entire set on Blu-Ray when it arrives. It is that good IMO.

Iron-Man II with its heavy metal soundtrack is going to be released in a few days. The Summer blockbuster season is finally here although some studios who are sharp enough would have kept their releases away from the SA [stupendously atrocious] WC 2010!

I remember four years ago some directors and studios talking of planning their releases to avoid clashing with the FIFA WC as the ticket sales plummet during that month especially in EUROPE, AFRICA and ASIA which is a large chunk of the box office.


For that reason as well, Paramount is releasing IRON MAN II in early May rather than mid-May so that it has a good run before WC fever strikes and the attendances are low.

Really really looking forward to Iron Man II as I thought the first one was excellent. It's out on friday here so might try and catch it over the weekend.

And Haroon, regarding Lost, wait for season 6(final season) - you will be like WTF??????:P:d

Avatar is beautiful on blu ray even on 1080i it's stunning, can't wait to get my new tv!!!!!!!!

How are LG and Sony doing in the LED stakes? And have you heard if this new Sharp thing, they have added yellow to RGB apparently gives better colour

You should be looking at the Digital Cinema 4K resolutions for both aspect ratios as movies are in both of them.

The chart clearly shows that 4K will simply run over 1080p but the problem is how to get a 4K authored movie on a disc which can't have that capacity as yet. Maybe we are moving towards hard drives / cartridges etc.


A company called RED is already making the cameras to film it. Where do I bang my head? :d They also have a RED RAY which plays 4K, 2K, 1080p, 720p etc. It's for professionals but eventually this thing will trickle down.

Red is always better than Blu. Milan, Utd., Pool will be better than Inter, Everton, Chelsea etc. It's the way of the world in the long run. :P

Sony is doing well. They will be releasing new TVs in the Summer ... I believe next month. LG is making the most beautiful sets out there right now with edge to edge glass displays for their new announced sets.


Don't buy the bullcrap of yellow making the picture look better and what not.


LED technology has a much wider colour gamut than LCD. When you have a wider colour gamut that means you can have more shades of a colour i.e. LED is able to display a lot more shades of purple compared to LCD. This helps in more colour accuracy as you have a lot more variations and subtleties in a single colour compared to what LCD is capable of.

OLED is the KING but the problem is the price. Toshiba had SED which was super duper but again the price was the sticking point. Their demo units displayed blasted Plasma and LCD into orbit. It wasn't even a contest. But consumers want cheap and they want good. It's a trend.

But Hollywood sure is in the mood to do it. :d After all, a mega blockbuster's production budget used to be $100 million tops not too long ago but nowadays almost every big movie costs $200 million or more to produce! That's crazy inflation in a very short span, especially during the period of recession, so somebody has to pay for it and that somebody is us, the consumers/suckers. :d

Believe it or not, I saw Avatar for the first time ever today. I didn't bother going to the local cinema here when it was on in December because I had already made the dreaded mistake of wasting The Dark Knight in a shit on a stick cinema house! I guess when there is a reference like The Empire in the West End, everything looks shit in comparison. Especially the Odeon West End which is a few steps away and boasts one of the largest, if not the largest curved screen in Europe. Too bad, that is sucks donkey balls in video and audio. Nothing comes close to The Empire IMO. It's on a different level according to my last viewing half a decade ago.

Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the experience on Blu-Ray with the riveting DTS-HD Master Audio track. Lossless audio in Blu-Rays is really a few notches above the lossy Dolby and DTS 5.1 mixes. The visuals were stunning as expected. This is without a doubt the new reference disk on the block for video and audio indeed. Cameron, even looked at the menus and navigation to make it a very smooth experience overall.

I like the ultra wide 2.40:1 aspect ratio of films. I understand Cameron's angle to go for 1.85:1 for the height perspective in 3D but I hope there is a way to move forward with 2.40:1 and 3D in tandem.


Cameron's world of Pandora was beautifully rendered.


Movies like this can make 3D a mainstay for years. Forced 3D adaptation at the last minute like Clash of the Titans is the other end of the spectrum and the death knell for 3D taking off. :omg:


Right now, I wish I could afford that $75,000 Digital Projection Lighting Reference 3D projector.

MI-4 and Sherlock Holmes have both been announced for December 06, 2011. They will go head to head but the openings might be reshuffled to avoid cancelling each other.


Shrek the 4th is ruling the box office but the reviews state that it is just a continuation of the 3rd one i.e. dire and boring. The series was really good till Part II. I thought Part III was average. The voice of Diaz had become unbearable by then. Money wise the movie is just strolling along rather than burning the box office even though it is in 3D.


I am looking forward to The A-Team. This Summer has lots of movies but the bigger ones won't be that many IMO, partly because of the WC and partly because the titles are not big "names" apart from Toy Story III. I am sure that I am missing a title here and there but nothing comes to mind that I am looking forward to with real verve. It happens in a WC year because movies cannot substitute The Greatest Show on Earth even though it is in the car-jacking capital of the world accompanied by the extremely nauseating sound of the Vuvuzelas! Now, where the hell are my noise isolating earbuds?

Megan Fox has been bumped off Transformers III. Apparently she bad-mouthed Michael Bay in an interview and accused him of abusing the crew and actors too much. It was something on those lines. She got bumped soon after.

The search is on for a replacement. Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace & Prince of Persia: Sands of Time) is in pole position. I guess Michael Bay's first question while casting will be: Hey bitch, do you have a fucking problem if I fucking decide to let it fucking rip and give you a fucking scolding because you're not speaking the fucking lines as I fucking desire? Speak the fuck up already!
