definately not out of the blue, but look at things logically

- Brescia game was a week late....therefore it disrupted teh psychological momentum the players had and was played AFTER the first leg of the Milan Derby rather than before....

- The players were always in control against brescia without getting out of second gear - their minds were always going ot be on teh biggest game of the season; the milan derby leg 2

- The Brescia goal came at a time where it was very hard to come back from it...particularly as we had made inexplicable subs and the players were content with taking the point....they just wanted to concentrate on teh derby

- The derby came...we won....great....

- Siena - we were EXTREMELY unlucky....we dominated and had many chances to win and just did not have luck on our side...its ok....its nothing to do with our performance it was just one of those days which coincedently came after the brescia draw....

- We must look at each game and each game only...this suposed Series of poor results, when u break it down was just a psychological blip and an understandeable one at that, and a very unlucky day....and thats all it is

Today is another day another game no contextual history should be taken into account...

20th April 2005, 22:59

A Clarence Seedorf strike proved enough to beat Chievo and put Milan back on top of the table thanks to Juve's slip.

Milan could not afford another slip after a shock 2-1 defeat at Siena on Sunday, a result that opened up a three-point gap from Juventus at the top, but Carlo Ancelotti was forced to make massive changes to his squad.

Andrea Pirlo was still out with a knee injury and he was joined on the treatment table by his natural replacements Manuel Rui Costa and Massimo Ambrosini. This meant they switched to a 4-4-2 system with Kaka on the right and Serginho out wide left. Chievo had Federico Cossato suspended, but tried to emulate Siena's counter-attacking tactics with just Sergio Pellissier upfront.

The Flying Donkeys had a strong start and Andrea Zanchetta's low drive whistled just past the upright from the edge of the box. Soon after, Dida did well to block Marchesetti's angled drive at the near post.

Jaap Stam's long-range free kick whipped inches wide of the target and a Serginho set-piece dipped on to the roof of the net. Milan then had a goal disallowed for offside, but replays suggest Mandelli may well have been keeping Hernan Crespo on side when Kaka released the pass.

Marcos Cafu's cross was deflected and Luca Marchegiani managed to readjust his position with some difficulty, but for all their possession Milan couldn't find a way through.

Into the second half and Marchegiani flew to palm away a swerving Kaka strike from the edge of the box.

The deadlock was eventually broken on 65 minutes. Clarence Seedorf did everything himself, bursting through two Chievo defenders before unleashing a fierce shot at the near post.

Jon Dahl Tomasson wasted a golden opportunity to double their lead on the counter-attack, but he went for glory and missed rather than passing across to the unmarked Shevchenko.

Sheva then made a mistake himself by slipping at the crucial moment,

Milan: Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Stam, Maldini; Kakà, Gattuso, Seedorf, Serginho (Kaladze 81); Shevchenko (Brocchi 86), Crespo (Tomasson 74)

Chievo: Marchegiani; Moro, Mandelli, D'Anna, Lanna; Zanchetta, Brighi, Baronio (Luciano 62), Franceschini (Semioli 74); Marchesetti (Amauri 53); Pelissier

It's not luck, it was such a clear foul that a blind man would see it with no eyes even.

Serie A Wrap: Inter Triumph At Delle Alpi
4/20/2005 10:48:00 PM
The Nerazzurri won the Derby of Italy to help Milan climb back at the top of Serie A as the Rossoneri managed to edge past Chievo.
Last year’s hero in Turin, Julio Cruz, repeated the feat and was the match winner in a 1-0 victory for Inter over Juventus. The Argentinean striker scored the all important goal in the 24th minute as the Nerazzurri held the Bianconeri’s second half forcing to beat their bitter rivals and dent their Scudetto chances.

Milan found it more difficult than expected to break through the Chievo defence and only a 64th minute goal by Seedorf opened things up for the Rossoneri as Ancelotti’s side emerged as 1-0 winners.

Thrilling encounter between Palermo and Brescia at the Barbera stadium which ended in a 3-3 result. Terlizzi’s 14th minute strike gave the Sicilian side the lead, but Wome equalized just after 3 minutes. Di Biagio put the Rondinelle ahead in the 21st minute from the penalty spot but Brescia were left in 10 men as Dallamano was sent off in the 26th minute. Palermo took advantage of this and levelled the score in the 39th minute from a Toni penalty. The same Toni scored his 16th goal of the season in the 78th minute for the short-lived 3-2 as Caracciolo equalized for Brescia yet again. Palermo had to play the last 20 minutes in 10 men as well, as Terlizzi received the marching orders in the 69th minute.

An important point was shared between Parma and Sampdoria in a 1-1 encounter. In the 35th minute Gasbarroni scored the opener for the Doriani but Gilardino equalized after 4 minutes to leave both teams still with a chance to reach their respective objectives.

Udinese failed to take advantage of Sampdoria’s draw even though Kamara gave the lead to the Bianconeri after just 8 minutes of play. However Livorno managed to equalize late in the game when the usual Lucarelli netted the draw four minutes from the end.

Roma’s terrible campaign continued as Siena sunk the Giallorossi 2-0 at the Olimpico. Maccarone put Siena surprisingly ahead thanks to a quick counter attack in the 59th minute, increasing the tension among the Roma players which led to Totti being sent off a few minutes later. Chiesa closed the encounter definitively in the 88th minute to add more misery to Roma’s season.

Cagliari and Lazio ended in a 1-1 draw as the home team went ahead in the 70th minute thanks to Esposito before being reached in the dying seconds by an Antonio Filippini goal.

Lecce and Bologna shared the spoils with a 1-1 result that satisfies both sides. Giacomazzi opened the score for the Giallorossi in the 20th minute, but Bellucci equalized just before half time for the visitors.

Fiorentina could not go further than a 1-1 home draw against Messina. A 61st minute goal by Dainelli helped Fiorentina take the lead but Di Napoli scored a 90th minute equalizer to leave the Viola still in the relegation zone.

Reggina and Atalanta ended in a goalless draw, a result which surely satisfies the Amaranti.
