A must win for Milan...always a tough test agaist Lazio. If anything, I think they are the ones going into this match with a big head, sort of speak.
Maybe give Maldini a break ahead of the Celtic match...for sure Pirlo. Hopefully Stam and Crespo will be ready for this game.

Zlatan impressing.

Abbiati, Coloccini, Stam, and Pippo all unavaliable.
Seems that Pirlo will be on the bench, and maybe even Sheva, though I doubt that. Finally Crespo it seems will be avaliable... hopefully he will do well if he is called upon. And more then anything Milan gets back on track against a surprising Lazio team.
I guees the line-up will be:
Dida
Cafu-Nesta-Maldini-Pancaro
Gattuso-Ambrosini-Seedorf
Kaka
Sheva-JDT

Ancelotti slams Milan approach
The reigning Serie A Champions need to buck their ideas up if they are to beat Lazio and relaunch their title campaign, warns Coach Carlo Ancelotti.
“There will be no revolution within the squad,” he explained, “because the problem lies with our overall attitude. There are no players more guilty than others in this case.”
The Rossoneri had already struggled to earn points against Livorno, Bologna and Shakhtar Donetsk before Wednesday’s shock home defeat to minnows Messina.
“We didn’t play the way we know how against Messina, and fully deserved to be punished for that,” confessed the tactician. “Since then we have all been looking at the movements needed to defend better, as most of our problems have been linked to how easily opponents can get scoring opportunities. All we really need is concentration.”
Throughout their first 17 games last season Milan had conceded nine goals, but after three matches they have already let in four.
“We have to change our approach to games as a team. The last two days of training have been important and the squad seemed to understand where and how their performance could be improved.”
There is already a stern test of their mettle, as Milan pay a visit to on form Lazio, who they demolished 3-0 in the Italian Supercup Final a month ago.
“The Biancocelesti have changed a great deal since we last played them,” warned Ancelotti. “Nonetheless, we have no alternative but to go there looking for the win, both for the club and for ourselves.”
They’ll have to do it without Pippo Inzaghi, Jaap Stam and Fabricio Coloccini due to slight niggling injuries.
At the end of the press conference Ancelotti was asked to rate his level of concern at seeing Juventus open up such an early lead over the other contenders. “From one to ten?” he smiled. “I’d say one.”

Very slow team, no teamwork and the worst of all NO MOVEMENT WITHOUT THE BALL!!!!!
And lots of selfish players today.. Kaka was the best player from Milan in the 1st half, moving as lot and made a wonderful lob pass to Sheva.. But hey.. We didn't score and surprisngly lots of Milan fans talks about Inter and forgetting our problems!
Our midfield is really bad, we need someone there.. And we need to improve the movement without the ball, something we have been lacking for 2 years now (Only Kaka and Seedorf does this in the whole team, also Cafu, but today Seedorf isn't)

+Sheva: Milans king
+Cafu
+Kaka
+central defenders (Nesta, Paolo), some brillant last second tackles in the last minutes [consider we played w/o any heavyweight midfielder]
+back in striking distance (3pts)
-Ambrosini: To me not good enough for Milan starter. And not because of the sending off. He lacks pace, precision in passing and crossing.
-Gattuso: just off form. We should play him central and not as right winger. His crossing is just bad. Defensively OK.
-long passing: we haven't overdone it, but everytime I see it, is a waysted ball. Not Milan class.
-we are too Sheva/Kaka dependant (Bologna = Kaka penalty and goal; Lazio Sheva double). If these guys are not super human the whole team suffers. And this is unacceptable for a Milan class team.
Yasser
26th September 2004, 23:40
Out of all strikers in the market.. We took the off form forever Hernan Crespo.. Again he done nothing impressive, he tried but dunno.. He needs time to regain his confidence and he's already 29/30..
Nice to win but not a great game, we did 1 terrible 65 bad mins but won due to the magic of an indivual not that our teamwork was good or so. That's the difference between Barcelona and us (At least for these days bcuzs I'm sure we'll improve)
Sheva was MOM for sure, his 2nd goals was superb.
Bayman
26th September 2004, 23:41
And a note:
Never partner Sheva with another goalgetter. He always moves wide then.
Play him with a secunda punta and he is lethal where he belongs: in the box!!
Yasser
26th September 2004, 23:44
True Bayman, but the win erases everything bad that happened, but we need an immediate solution for this. As said, you can see Barca winning without Ronaldinho and playing still the same class football (based on teamwork their game is).
Maldini, great Vs Lazio tonight, suffered Vs Messina and Livorno, IMO we should rest him more Vs small teams..
I hope Nesta won't get a suspension next game as he slapped Simone Inzaghi.. (well not really a slap but almost)

Ten-man Milan fought back from a goal down to grab a crucial victory away to Lazio with Andriy Shevchenko's brace.
These two teams have already met once before this season, when Milan thrashed Lazio 3-0 for the Italian Supercup in mid-August. However, much has changed since then and the Rossoneri are struggling to find their form.
Pippo Inzaghi and Jaap Stam did not make the trip down to the Capital, giving former Lazio star Hernan Crespo his first start with the reigning Italian Champions. Andrea Pirlo was also relegated to the bench in favour of Massimo Ambrosini.
The Biancocelesti were unbeaten in the League under Mimmo Caso, although midweek goalscorer Tommaso Rocchi was suspended and Paolo Di Canio surprisingly benched in favour of youngster Goran Pandev.
Lazio had the first chance when Massimo Oddo was allowed to put a deep cross in for Luciano Zauri's header and Dida took two attempts to smother it.
There were worried faces on the Milan bench when Fernando Couto clattered into Andriy Shevchenko and he required treatment for a head injury, but the Ukrainian was able to continue. From the resulting free kick Gennaro Gattuso's looping header shook the roof of the net.
The visitors were more aggressive to begin with, but Kakha Kaladze fired a rising angled drive wide of the near post and Angelo Peruzzi did well to pluck Kaka's cross off Crespo's head.
The first real chance of the first half came after 34 minutes, when Crespo's stinging half-volley was palmed out by Peruzzi at a tight angle. Soon after, Shevchenko's similar finish did not find the goalkeeper unprepared.
However, it was Lazio who took the lead from a set-piece. The ball came back out and an Antonio Filippini cross was met by the unmarked Fernando Couto's free header at the back post.
The Rossoneri immediately had the chance to draw level when Gattuso's curling cross just skimmed Kaka's head from six yards.
Peruzzi then performed a stunning one-handed reaction save as Shevchenko tried to squeeze the ball between the 'keeper and near post with the outside of his right foot.
Just before the break Clarence Seedorf's corner kick was nodded just off target by Paolo Maldini.
Milan needed some changes to boost their creativity and Andrea Pirlo replaced Gattuso in midfield. After five minutes Seedorf pulled back for Crespo and his shot was bravely charged down by Giuliano Giannichedda.
There was a clash between Massimo Ambrosini and Emanuele Filippini with the Milan man going in with his elbow and the midfielder was shown a straight red card.
Marcos Cafu's last gasp intervention deflected Zauri's effort at the near post, while Massimo Oddo wreaked havoc on the edge of the box.
Carlo Ancelotti completed his substiutions when Jon Dahl Tomasson and Giuseppe Pancaro replaced Crespo and Kaladze.
Within moments Milan had drawn level with Shevchenko, the man who had already put a hat-trick past Lazio in the Italian Supercup. A Pirlo corner kick was not cleared effectively and Sheva hooked in a splendid volley across the face of goal.
Tomasson then ran on to Pirlo's pass and saw his effort charged down, but Shevchenko struck again four minutes later with a stunning strike. Kaka hooked a pass towards him out wide on the right, then he skipped past Couto and slammed an angled drive into the top corner.
Now Lazio were chasing the game, so Paolo Di Canio and Fabio Liverani came on for Oscar Lopez and Antonio Filippini for a trident attack.
Shevchenko nearly grabbed his third, as a corner kick came out to him and his low drive was deflected inches wide of the post with Peruzzi immobile.
Lazio also went close to an equaliser moments later, as Simone Inzaghi's diving header ricocheted off the underside of the bar.
Mimmo Caso went for broke and threw on teenager Claudio De Sousa in place of Pandev. Former Lazio youth team Coach Caso knew him well from his time in charge and believed he was ready for this match.
Kaka attempted the cheekiest of finishes with six minutes to go, as he saw Peruzzi off his line and his chip was only just over the bar from a good 40 metres.
Simone Inzaghi was booked for diving after he fell far too easily under pressure from Cafu. The striker was then in more trouble after an altercation with Alessandro Nesta turned particularly childish as he bit the Milan defender's finger.
Milan nearly made it three when Shevchenko's pass cut through to Tomasson, but Zauri had that extra bit of pace to intercept.
At the other end a wonderful team move between Liverani, Di Canio and Inzaghi was closed down when Dida rushed off his line to hoof it up the field.
Antonio Filippini then slammed an angled drive inches past the far post, although Dida had the corner covered. Ten-man Milan camped out in their own half to defend their lead and poured forward on the counter-attack, but good work from Kaka and Shevchenko was wrecked by Tomasson's wayward finish.
Lazio were putting the pressure on in stoppages and Inzaghi was unable to turn his marker from six yards. On the counter-attack Kaka threaded through for Pirlo and the creative midfielder took far too long to pull the trigger and he, Kaka and Tomasson saw efforts closed down.

Right or not, you shouldn't slap a player no matter what he does. I also didn't like the booking of Shevchenko, the Lazio defender pushed him infront of the ref's eyes!

Out of all strikers in the market.. We took the off form forever Hernan Crespo.. Again he done nothing impressive, he tried but dunno.. He needs time to regain his confidence and he's already 29/30..
I can't believe i'm saying this, but i wish we could have got Ibrahimovic. IMO he would have been the perfect foil for Sheva. Instead we end up with Crespo :( still, at least Chelski are paying 70% of his wages :D

Simone Inzaghi should not be allowed to play Calcio, he is a deceiving, conniving and downright disgusting player.

Whatever Chelsea pays, we are gaining nothing. Out of 5 official games this year, he's injured in 4, played one bad game and came as a useless sub in another..
Early though to judge but the 1st signs aren't good, but there's definitly time for Crespo to find form as he'll get lots of chances since Pippo Inzaghi seems capabale of playing one game x week only.

lol , everytime he got himself inside the box .. he looks like to be more concern to hit the floor rather then hit the ball to the opponent's net
" Oddo down the right flank .... lovely cross to the box , Inzaghi got the ball ..... is he going to fall ?? "
Dang !!!! i heard that line so many times tonight (from the match comentator) :D:D , and it crack me open everytime

Pizarro (Udinese) or Mascherano in midseason and we can win CL with this Sheva again.
And if RobertoCarlos comes knocking I'd happily let him in. Kaladze is clearly inferior to Pancaro.

I watched the game and there is a few thought I would likt to share with You.
We started the game as we were asleep. Even thoug we controlled the game I hated Milan in the first half. Very slow, no accuarcy on the ball, sloppy in defence. Lazio first shot on goal and we find ourselves loosing. I must say we reacted well. First Crespo, then Sheva and finally Maldini's effort showed good signs for the second half. It may sound wierd but when Ambro was dissmised (he deserved it but Lazio player should have got a yellow at least, a poor display for the ref but I will talk about this later on) I saw an oportunity for us to win this game. And from this moment Milan played really nice, controlling the game, pushing forward, creating chances. I also think Carlo showed he is indeed a great coach. He did not start to substitute players, but gave some time to rething the situation and did the right decission. Great subs!!!!!Pirlo was great!!!!And our first goal come with a great deal of help from Pancaro!!!And finally come 4 minutes of glory for Sheva. Some of You guys have been bragging lately how great Adriano is. Well Sheva's second beats everything I saw from Adriano so far. Simply stunning goal!!!!We toook the game from then on and Lazio only come back with Inzaghis header rocking the cross bar. But that was it. And in fact we could have scored two more goals in the late minutes of the game. Great win. Great last 30 minutes. A true Milan with a winning and never give up mentality. Signs of a great team we are!!!
I also do think that refes behaviour was very poor. He only saw Milans fouls. really poor.
Forza Milan!!!

Baby Inzaghi is a disgrace for football, after the game Wim Kief former dutch player said, he's a disgrace for soccer he can't play football and they once compared him with MVB because he also scored goals in one CL match. SUPER DISGRACE he told afterwards. Marco scored almost every week goals :)
Grazie king goal scoring machine Sheva :king: This man is fantastic, what class goals, the second was amazing, I jumped 10 meters high out my chair :D
FORZA :milan: this win with 10 man must give our group lot of confidence and i hope he are rolling from now on

There are 4 strikers at the club and I rate Crespo as 5th best and that`s being generous. In terms of the pecking order, I only wish to see him play again if we endure an injury crisis as this guy has neither the ability nor the mindset to represent Milan. Yes, it's only late September, but Crespo wouldnt come good if you gave him until September 3004, of that I`m quite certain.
I laughed at Chelsea not long ago regarding the fact that they`re paying 70% of his wages, when, in fact, it's far more likely that it is they whom are laughing at us :o
Re: Max, I'd imagine that he's looking at a 3-match ban for violent conduct. As I mentioned earlier, if it werent for the overwhelming sense of sentimentality at the club, he`d have been sold a long, long time ago.

A win in Rome vs. Lazio is a good confidence booster. We did it the hard way after gifting Couto the first goal, not taking our chances in the first half and then Ambro elbowing to get a stupid red card! :wallbang:
Shevchenko made of what he got and scored two brilliant goals that will be remembered for some time.
Observations
==========
1. Central Defence partnership of Nesta and Maldini was pretty much upto scratch tonight. They defended very well but the distribution when releasing the ball from the back is not at the level it has been in the past season. It is perhaps a confidence issue as some posters have pointed out.
2. Shevchenko as pointed out correctly by Bayman is lethal when he is hovering around the box not on the edge of it close to the right flank. For that to happen he is at his best with Tomasson as Crespo and Inzaghi steal his mojo :D
3. Right flank is heavy in use due to Cafu, Kaka, Shev and Seedorf using it. Kaladze was open for the pass on a few occasions but it never came. A strategic change also due to the red card of Ambrosini as Seedorf played more on the right and centre. Seedorf does move central but after Ambro he moved to the right for a while. It is our strong side.
4. Ambrosini made a silly mistake for which he was punished rightly. He had the chance to start and he blew it. We got out of jail tonight. Make no mistake about that.
5. Defending on aerial balls is not good and the defending at set pieces is close to abysmal. I didn't use to get nervous on corners but nowadays my heart does flutter as our team is not defending well on set pieces.
6. I don't know why our side goes out there and starts to take a pleasant evening walk. We were dominating possession in the first half for quite some periods but there was a lack of conviction, purpose and URGENCY. Everybody is having a nice stroll in the park. Then Couto puts Lazio in the lead and everybody is awake thinking of the consequences. There was a sudden burst of pro-active behaviour in the team. Why wasn't it like this from the first minute is annoying.
7. Kaka and Seedorf are doing the running in the midfield as Bayman has mentioned. Those two and Sheva are more or less responsible for our offence right now and if you close down the supply to Sheva then we have a terrible time to score. Dhorasoo works a lot in the field. We need urgency in our play. We so easily let 30 mins or so pass by just wasting time mostly. Then wake up when things start to get tight. A patient build-up is good but a snail paced build-up is not good. That gives opponents enough time to get back, position themselves and be ready for an attack and therefore scoring becomes too difficult. Free scoring happens when you catch the defence off-guard or your play gives them imbalance. Our patient build-up is so slow that not only are the opposition in good positions to defend but their attacking players are also there to help them out. You can't unlock defences like that.
8. After Ambro got sent off Carlo instructed Cafu to stick up rather than pushing up and he did well in defence and well to control his natural instinct. :)
9. We defended too deep and that was asking for trouble. Our defence did save us but it wasn't the way to defend so deep! At least trying to keep ball possession would've been good instead of just kicking the ball clear out. It was taking merely 15 secs or so for Lazio to be around the box AGAIN for their next attempt! How is that good defending by just launcing it clear. When our defence is playing well it passes it out and spreads the ball on the ground rather than clearances like this. That was not only risky and asking for trouble but mediocre as well.
10. The only reason to be happy is 3 pts and an away game out of the way against a big rival. The confidence of the team should go up a bit but we are still very far away from a decent satisfying performance. Under these circumstances Barcelona will fancy getting at least 4 pts off us if not 6.
11. JDT and Pirlo should've scored a goal each at the end. Poor finishing by JDT who launched it into orbit and Pirlo could've done better with what he did rather than make a hash of it.
12. Next up is Celtic and they will send in lots of crosses which is worrying considering our players positioning. If we play at 75% we can get a scrappy win but our every mistake is costing us dearly while we are not making the most of the chances presented to us.
This team needs to do a lot of work. Hard work. If you want a match to be a walk in the park then you don't walk but run your guts out. Work rate is just not there. We have to turn to our Curva Sud to make it an intimidating and specially warm reception for the BHOYS. The most crucial game of the month is coming up on Wednesday.

Yes Kiril his subs were NOTHING special, same tactics same changes he makes every match. We won due to Sheva's magic not for the great teamwork bcuz as you see, Bayman and Haroon summed up how we played. And IF you saw the match which I doubt, you'll know that we weren't impressive but 3 pts now is ok then we have to improve.

Bayman,
"we are too Sheva/Kaka dependant (Bologna = Kaka penalty and goal; Lazio Sheva double). If these guys are not super human the whole team suffers. And this is unacceptable for a Milan class team."
Against Livorno and Shakhtar it was Seedorf who saved Milan. :)

Yasser the funny thing is that you wanted Carletto to bring on Sergio for Kaladze. Sure it may have been sensible... If Sergio wasn't on the plane back to Milano. :)
I think that you should open your mind a bit and maybe even applaud Carlo once in a while. It is boring to hear the same arguments day in and day out just because of the fact that you hate his guts. Tell me bro, who out of Brocchi, Billy or Fiori would have made the differance except from his substitutions? :)
Milan played well last night and the win was fully deserved. We even outplayed them when we were 10 vs 11... AT THEIR PARK!!! The attitude of some Serie A-teams is a disgrace IMO, play football god damn it!

Player of the Week: Shevchenko (Milan)
Although Andriy Shevchenko was quick to praise his teammates following the 2-1 win at Lazio on Sunday, it would be fair to suggest that Milan may have lost at the Olimpico had he not been on the field of play. Although capital ‘keeper Angelo Peruzzi made some fine saves throughout, Shev’s brilliant brace handed his 10-man side three crucial points.
The Rossoneri certainly needed Shevchenko to return to form and he didn’t let them down. Jon Dahl Tomasson, Pippo Inzaghi and Hernan Crespo haven’t looked in great shape so far this term which only increased the pressure on the Ukrainian to deliver. He certainly did that and in some style.
His first goal may have resulted thanks to some slack Lazio defending but Shev impressively co-ordinated himself to blast the ball home. His second was even better as he skipped past two Lazio defenders to pick out the top-corner with a powerful strike. He proved to be the only real difference between the two sides in the Eternal City.
Shevchenko concluded the Week 4 scoring but the first strike of the weekend went to Bologna’s Mourad Meghni. Dubbed the ‘new Zidane’ on his arrival at the club four years ago, the 20-year-old finally illustrated why against Roma. He was surprisingly given a starting shirt and he repaid boss Carlo Mazzone with two goals of the highest quality.
The Frenchman was excellent throughout for the Rossoblu, as was Tomas Locatelli, against an unrecognisable Roma. The Giallorossi were simply awful at the Dall’Ara with Leandro Cufre, Marco Delvecchio and Antonio Cassano arguably the worst of a very bad bunch. No wonder Coach Rudi Voller, who quit after the game, admitted he was embarrassed by their display.
It was a different story for Parma boss Silvio Baldini, whose youngsters grabbed a point at Inter. Although all of the side did well, Domenico Morfeo proved just how important he will be to the team this season. The attacking midfielder was immense, rekindling memories of his time at Atalanta when the big clubs would regularly send scouts to watch his performances.
The Tardini outfit though were denied the three points by substitute Obafemi Martins. The Nigerian came on to score a brace after another ineffective performance from Christian Vieri. The Italian, who is clearly struggling for form, started alongside Adriano yet again but came off to the whistles of the home crowd. How many more chances is boss Roberto Mancini going to give him?
Other good individual displays over the weekend were offered by Gianluca Zambrotta of Juventus, in the 1-1 draw against a very organised Palermo outfit, and Lecce’s Guillermo Giacomazzi. Cagliari’s Mauro Esposito did his hopes of a first international call-up no damage with another goal.
Brescia’s Daniele Mannini also deserves a special mention but for all the wrong reasons. He decided to take advantage of Morgan De Sanctis’ injury to chip the ball into the empty net as the Udinese No 1 lay on the ground. Whatever happened to fair play?

The whole thing about playing Ambrosini was meant as cover for our sorry defending of late. If you watch replays of the game you might discover that Ambrosini did a good job in covering and recuperating lost balls together with his teammates.
As for removing a defensive midfielder for a striker when our defending has been so fragile, seems a bit weird in my book. Given the other fact that Lazio had their entire gameplan made up with little possesion in order to sneak up and do damage to us on counterattacks. It's too easy to yell for more firepower and think that everything will sort itself out that way IMHO but I have to respect other peoples views. To say that his substitutions are stupid "as always" however, deserves no respect whatsoever.
Grow up.

Max is useful on the proviso that he doesnt venture ahead of the ball because playing catch-up is anything but his forte. There were a few such instances during the Lazio game and because he has neither the pace nor the tackling ability, he`s a dead cert for a yellow card (at best).
So, in essence, we have a player whom we`ll probably have to rely on a fair portion this season who provides a semi-effective static shield just ahead of the back-four and that`s about it. A complete waste of a player IMO as Gattuso plays said role far more effectively. Better to blood Dhorasoo, again, IMO.
