Guys, this is just a Tournee to end the season, many players who didnt play much will play these 2 games.

Milan is missing many International players called for the Euro2004 (italians for example)

without those Milan had to add players from some other italian teams, otherwise they couldnt make a starting 11 and neither have a bench.

it's just another way to make $$$ and promote Milan Branch in Asia

Redondo will leave after these 2 games

Milan's Hong Kong hiccup Sunday 30 May, 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Rossoneri’s tour of Asia got off to a poor start with a 2-1 defeat, even though Andriy Shevchenko was on target.

The newly crowned Serie A Champions have taken several players from other teams along on this summer tour, including Sampdoria fullback Aimo Diana and Bologna veteran Beppe Signori.

Milan had taken the lead against Hong Kong outfit Kitchee at a packed stadium filled with 70,000 fans.

Capocannoniere Shevchenko added to his seasonal tally with a strong header on Serginho’s cross, but Kitchee managed to turn it all around in the closing stages through substitute Putiray’s brace.

The home side was also able to count on several 'loan' players, including Fulham's Luis Boa Morte and former Fiorentina star Predrag Mijatovic.

Kitchee 2-1 Milan

Scorers: Shevchenko 47 (M), Putiray 66, 80 (K)

Kitchee: Xiao; Savelijc, Lam, Fung, Mirkovic; Bamnjo, Feng, De Araujo, Jovanovic; Boa Morte, Mijatovic

Milan: Abbiati; Diana, Costacurta, Maldini, Kaladze; Brocchi, Redondo, Ambrosini, Serginho; Shevchenko, Borriello

AC Milan promise to down China's Shenhua after Hong Kong humiliation

http://www.wldcup.com/pictures/2004_06/7484_24506_0.jpg
After an embarrassing loss to football minnows Hong Kong Kitchee, Italian champions AC Milan will be looking to save face in its exhibition match against Chinese league champions Shanghai Shenhua. Here Andriy Shevchenko of AC Milan (C) beats Jizhi Feng (R) and Zoran Mirkovic (L) of Kitchee

After an embarrassing loss to football minnows Hong Kong Kitchee, Italian champions AC Milan will be looking to save face in its exhibition match against Chinese league champions Shanghai Shenhua.

"We're going to take AC Milan's image to the highest level possible," coach Carlo Ancelotti was quoted Tuesday as saying by local newspapers.

"On June 2, we will not lose," Ancelotti promised.

Milan's dearth of usual talent was to blame for their 2-1 loss to Kitchee, Sui Jianhua, deputy manager of Shanghai Shenhua, told AFP.

"Lots of their top level players were absent and they just finished their Italian league matches, so it is quite normal that they lost the game (in Hong Kong)," Sui said.

Although Milan will still be missing their contingent of Italian internationals, the black and red shirts hope to turn things around when they take the field in Shanghai.

While many of Milan's players stayed in Europe for the build-up to this month's European Championships in Portugal, legendary defenders Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Costacurta will be booted up.

Suffering from an apparent muscle injury, 27-year-old striker Andrei Shevchenko, Milan's lone goal scorer in Hong Kong, could be sitting out the match.

Nonetheless, Sui and Ancelotti promised to deliver an exciting match.

"We trust our strength, we are the champions of the Chinese league, so we believe we can share a high quality match with our fans," Sui said.

"Well try our best to present our best players on the field tomorrow -- AC Milan is an excellent club and it is a good opportunity for us to learn and communicate."

Italian league matches have been broadcast in China for several years and this is Milan's third visit to the mainland since 1995.

The 17-time Serie A champions have long been followed by fans in China, along with other footballing giants such as Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Shenhua, briefly coached by former Leeds manager Howard Wilkinson, are unbeaten so far this season.

We don't want our players to get injuried , do we? ;) let our players have some fun out there :) I'm sure the fans enjoyed seeing their local team beating the Italian Champions which is good, as they are the ones who had paid fortunes for our visit ;)
