Real's 1st match they might be without Ronaldo and for sure without R Carlos.. The better beat them now.. As they get harder in the final..

i dont fear any of them i agree about real, there good going forwards but defend like school girls i think Arsenal could emerge as main threat unless Henry gets injured. ideally real get arsenal, depor get chelsea monaco get porto and we get lyon.
Why are we still not considered favourites its always real, man utd, arsenal, chelsea like Carlo said is the european cup still in our cabinet, you sometimes have to check!!!!!!!

I would like to change Lyon and Monaco in your pairings Yasser, and that would be my dream draw. Why Monaco? I simply think Prso and Morientes are the kind of strikers Nesta and Maldini love the most (they never had problems with Vieri, Corradi, Bazzani or simular towers). On the other hand, Govou and Luyindoula (spelling?) along with Juninho can cause problems with their speed. I am really not affraid of Rothen and Guly crossing and Morientes and Prso trying to score with their heads. I may be wrong though.
But dreams are one thing, reallity something else. We got lucky with Sparta draw, so my guts are telling me it will be Real or Arsenal.

Good point Andrej, then I'd also swap Lyon with Monaco..
As for Real / Arsenal.. Well, doesnt matter, bring them on.. I'd prefer Real over Arsenal though..

Chelsea have suffered a huge blow with the news that Cudicini has broken his hand. Nothing too drastic I hear you all cry. That is until you see Neil Sullivan perform :clown:

i would like to see REAL vs ARSENAL cuz they are considered favorites along with us and i would love to see one of them get eliminated as for us i'd love to play abramovich and show them a thing or too, but if it is for the easy way to the top (like last year) i would be glad to take on monaco or lyon or even porto

12th March 2004, 11:15
i don't want MADRID vs ARSENAL coz than 'the oders' :clown: will say that MILAN is lucky and so on... we must show them that we fear no one, BUT if they draw MADRID vs ARSENAL... lol

OK if u ask me. Depor is better then Real, Chelsea or Arsenal while we have the easiest semi-final opponents...

I`d have been happy had we faced either of the teams in the draw. The likes of Real and Arsenal have to be beaten sometime and there`s no time like the present. Instead, Depor are the victims ;)

12th March 2004, 12:33
i'm really happy with the draw and i hope that real meet arsenal in the semis and real get eliminated so we can beat arsenal in the final.
as for depor, i hope it's the same as last year when we thumped them 4-0 in spain and then the return match didn't matter

let's keep an eye on OPORTO, whoever between Milan and Deportivo goes thru, remind our Game (European SuperCup final in Monaco, won 1-0 with some pains) and the double game of the portuguese team against Manchester United, a evil opponent
maybe more dangerous even than Chelsea.
swissmilan
12th March 2004, 12:51
Good draw, but there's the potential we underestimate both, La Coruna in quarter final and Porto or Lyon in semi-final!
Anyway, we should go through to the Final! :angryfi: :angryfi: :pi:

12th March 2004, 16:55
Im not happy..
Real would be too hard to be beaten in the final.. While we can easily take care of them in a 2 legs match now..
Anyway, our win Vs Juve would be vital, it would give us also freedom to concentrate on the CL too..
Depor are dangerous, they shouldnt be a problem though.. Porto arent an easy side but also can be beaten.. But Real in a final is the worst you can ask for, remmeber their experience.. And LUCK.. Anyway, I wonder, can we do the double this year ? My heart says yes but.. It's damn hard! None have done it (ManU in 99 ? EPL was sh1t that time)

well i dont feel good or bad about this draw. deportivo will be tough, but we will go through. have they changed their tactics or their team at all since last year? looking to the semis it will also be tough, the amount of confidence porto or lyon will have by that time will make them a tough tie. we will prevail and left the cup again!

im happy its not arsenal or real madrid! Its so good that they face eachother in the semi finals. Then we only have to win from one of them! I really believe in another Champions league victory!!

I don't expect much problems against Deportivo and also semi-final game vs PORTO or LYON :)
I would say let's get CUP N°7 this season :):)

The only time the double has been done since the inception of the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE has been:
1999 - Manure
2001 - FC Bayern München
Another statistic that doesn't favour the defending champions is that they have never defended the title in the UCL! Time to change that? ;)
Our draw is not good and not bad. It is about right. A tough tie in prospect but saying that the opponent can be beaten!
We will be playing Deportivo for the second time in a game that matters in our own Stadio San Siro. The last time was when Zac was our coach in a Group Stage 2 game (Matchday 12) where we could only get a draw when we needed a win!
-> Deportivo have played us twice and never scored against us in their own home ground!
-> The second leg being played in the Riazor is a good thing IMO coz we will go out there with purpose and conviction and not risk getting a 0-0 draw which puts tremendous pressure in the second leg at home as in the Ajax game and to an extent the Sparta game.
Around 70 days of football left. Our side is great. It is solid, balanced and opponents to fear us! Football is a funny game in regard that the best team doesn't always win.
The Quarter-Final is a stage where the gear shifting comes into play. The great pull away from the good and hit their peak especially the 2nd leg!
Luck is imperative for a team to succeed. It is just a minor call, crossbar, deflection or anything that does just a little bit. Teams make their own luck but if it isn't your night then it just won't work. I hope that Murphy's Law doesn't apply to us at any stage! A team can do nothing if it is in motion.
The team has the ability to win but so do the other sides in the draw. This is the time for our heroes to rise and lead their team into the 'Arena of Champions' that is the Arena AufSchalke and get the job done! Somebody has to inspire, lead and do it for the side!
It can be done but it is not a cake walk by any means.

Without being pedantic, Man Utd actually contrived to win the treble that year. Swines.
Re: the possibility of facing Real in the final, it is a daunting one, but if we play the teamsheet as opposed to the myth that is Real Madrid, I believe we have an excellent chance. There are glaring chinks in their armoury make no mistake. They just have to be exploited by a good side, something they`ve yet to face all season long. And to further buoy people`s fortitude, recall the eventuality of their last meeting against such a side - Juve ;)

I dont subscribe to all this talk suggesting that Depor are the best team in Spain and the dark horses to be wary of. By all means, afford them respect as we would any team, but the long and short of it is that they`re trailing Real in the standings by no less than ten points.
Not yet of CL winning calibre IMO.

perhaps that is a sole reason for them to win CL;)...

right just like everyone said that last years CL winner will come from group 2 (arsenal, ajax, roma, valencia). i didn't really believe that and we all know what really happenedLOL..... a lot of people could have also said that the winner of the CL will come from the winner of Man Utd-Real Madrid quarter final cuz that's the way it has been for several years when they met.... so i think that it's a little premature to say that the winner of the CL will come from a certain quarter final.

We could have got real or the arse so i don't think we did too badly. One good thing was getting the home game first, if we could keep a clean sheet then the odds would really be in our favour in the return leg;)

one question abt draw, didn't you think that uefa should change rules to avoid ie. arsenal vs chelsea (real - depor, and so on) when its possible? this is european cup so i think that its better when there are 'european' matches, only when there are to few teams from different leagues they shouls allow that kind of draw (like last season 1/2 - MiLAN vs inter)
still arsenal vs chelsea is very interesting match but....
VUGAR
18th March 2004, 07:56
it is avoided in the frist stage of the knock out...but not then..and I think it is OK;)
