Another game. this time no Nesta, no Abbiati and Rivaldo still will be on the sidelines.

I heard we haven't won at Perugia since the last time Milan won the Scudetto back in '99. Time to change that trend again. :)

FORZA MILAN!!!

Yep no Nesta :( Hopefully Laursen can step up and perform admirably again... anyway we need to take this game , very important to keep the ball rolling in the league!

ANCELOTTI: 'I've always believed in Rui Costa'
20 September 2003 14:31

MILAN – Carlo Ancelotti hinted at the line-up he will play at Perugia, making clear that Rivaldo would not start. He said: 'Rivaldo? He won't have a starting spot at Perugia, although he has worked hard and has been very professional'.
Concerning Rui Costa, the coach added: 'He was one of the heroes in our past campaign, and he will be again this season. Rui does not need to be trusted, as I have always believed in him.
'The whistles he received on Wednesday? It happened to me as well at the San Siro in a Milan match against Cremonese, but then the supporters were not wrong...', joked Ancelotti.
'I hadn't got anything right…', he admitted.

------------------------------

So Rivaldo bench again!

out in perugia is ALWAYS a tough game if you ask me ...

If we play good let's go for victory ... if we play crap then a point is okay!

for me ... kaka could be in the team ... he can level up the game anytime!

cheers

why no nesta?

He injured his ankle in training and bruised his thigh against Ajax i think. He's only out for this game thankfully:angel:

Definitely one of the fixtures that I dont exactly relish, but if Milan play the team rather than the fixture, they should come off the better. No Miccoli either this time around ;)

Milan Squad:

GOALKEEPERS: Dida, Fiori, Taddonio

DEFENDERS: Cafu, Costacurta, Laursen, Maldini, Simic

MIDFIELDERS: Ambrosini, Brocchi, Gattuso, Kakà, Pirlo, Redondo, Rivaldo, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Serginho

FORWARDS: Inzaghi, Shevchenko Tomasson

Milan line up(i guess):
Dida; Simic, Laursen, Maldini, Costacurta; Gattuso, Ambrosini, Rui Costa, Kakà; Shevchenko, Inzaghi.

A.C Milan goes into this match knowing that they have to avoid injuries for the Champions League next week. Thus, Carlo Ancelotti will likely rotate his players for this match and bring in Brazilian Rivaldo to start this match. Rivaldo has after all complained to the Italian press about being left out of the team and threatened to leave if he is not given first team action.

The good news from the side from Milan is that Paolo Maldini will make a return from suspension to beef up the defence, while Kakha Kaladze and Giuseppe Pancaro will undergo late fitness tests to see if they can play in this match. Milan could also bring in Serginho for this match should they decide to rest players for the Champions League.

Results so far this season:
-Perugia: Siena 2-2 (home), Parma 0-3 (away).
-Milan: Ancona 2-0 (away), Bologna 2-1 (home).

Perugia on the other hand comes into this match without a win in their last seven matches going back to last season. Their last win was against Atalanta at home in April! Since the Start of the Serie A, they managed a 2-2 draw with Inter Milan at the San Siro and as well as a similar 2-2 draw at home to newly promoted side Siena. Then in their last match they were beaten by Parma 3-0 away from home.

Even though Perugia is very strong at home, but this time they are missing the man who scored the winner against A.C Milan last season in the form of Fabrizio Miccoli. Miccoli has now moved on to Juventus. So, the player to watch out will be Jay Bothroyd. Then alongside him will be Greek international Zisis Vryzas, a player who has a good record scoring against A.C Milan.

Perugia: 30%; Milan: 35%; Draw: 30%

My Prediction:
0-1,1-2

Good Luck Milan Kaka ,Sheva score

:D :D :D

I think we probably need to be winning games such as this if we wish to win the title, but a draw at Perugia isnt that bad a result. One point better than last season I suppose ;)

Forza the goal king Gattuso        I cant wait to see his strike :)

I am very dissapointed. Seems like nothing changed from last season. We still cant win (and lucky win in Bologna match shows that too) against smaller teams. So, unless drastic changes in January happen (and that means new signings) no scudetto.

Filipez
21st September 2003, 16:03
hmmmm not a good result IMO! But inter also didnt win, 0-0 at home against sampdoria. I hope Roma wins tonight. So we win a point on Juve! becouse they are the biggest rival for the scudetto

Yasser
21st September 2003, 16:19
Well I think the starting line up was just too silly !!!

To win vs small teams you need to attack from the right left and center, while today we had no wingers.. And again fielding the useless Rui.. And never giving Rivaldo a chance..

I still think this team can easily beat small teams, but it's a matter of how to use this team..

Yasser
21st September 2003, 16:26
Then again we cant score goals..

Juve, Roma, Lazio.. Vs those small teams win by 3-0 and so..

Not to forget we have never won 3 matches in a row in Serie A since Carlo arrived..

Bad news about Pippo, he was taken to hospital apparently suffering concussion:( . For more info click here (http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/sa0304/per-mil.html)

Santi

Gattuso's goal certainly a goal of the year candidate. :yeah:;)

Not a great result, seems same old story for Milan against smaller clubs...but the Perugia trip has always been a tough one for Milan.

Santi
21st September 2003, 23:04
Also... Lazio lost, inter was held by Samp...and Roma and Juve drew. So we are up there still with the rest still. ;)

GattusoKing
22nd September 2003, 01:46
Judging it by those results, it`s quite a handy point and importantly, we remain unbeaten ;) Trying to maintain that unblemished record is always a useful incentive and hopefully, we can stretch it well into the season if not all the way through.

Good to hear that Pippo`s injury isnt too severe. One does hold their breath when you hear hospitals being mentioned but fortunately, it appears as though he`ll be back scoring goals in no time :thumb:
