Milan - Roma
Stadio Meazza
This could well be remembered as the game before Carlo Ancelotti and Luciano Spalletti traded places. While all the smart money is on Ancelotti moving to Chelsea this summer, don’t rule out a switch to Roma.
Carletto recently made public his desire to train the Giallorossi, which is something he has never said of the Blues. Factor in his history with Roma and we have a surprising if not unforeseen change of Coach in the offing.
Milan are almost certainly interested in Spalletti, but like Juventus, they are worried about how much it would cost them. Would a straight swap for Ancelotti not be a reasonable solution, allowing both teams to get a trainer capable of taking them to the next level?
Back on the pitch, Milan come into this game in a richer vein of form than Roma, despite their 2-1 defeat away to Udinese on Saturday. The Rossoneri have won seven of their last 10 games, scoring 23 goals in the process and conceding just five, realising six clean sheets.
In Kaka, Alexandre Pato and Pippo Inzaghi, Milan have an attacking trident that has produced 43 goals this season. Having said that, the Rossoneri have gone two games without a victory and host a Roma side that is unbeaten in its last three games.
The Giallorossi are still without Doni and Juan, though, making them seriously vulnerable at the back. Roma have conceded an astonishing 57 goals this season, giving them the fourth worst defence in Serie A.
Considering Milan have the League’s best attack and along with Fiorentina have more victories at home than any other team this season, the prognosis for Roma looks bad.
Keep an eye on: Francesco Totti (Roma) – The 32-year-old talisman has endured a humbling season. He has suffered several niggling injuries and watched his team show a distinct lack of competitiveness. That said, Totti has still done the business when it has mattered, scoring 11 goals in 20 starts for Roma this season.
Last season: Milan 1-0 Roma

Just finish as close to Inter as possible. It will help us next season if we close the gap on Inter this season.

Roma in front.....
We are a slow pathetic team with a coach who has run out of ideas about two years ago.... No Seedorf...no problem... Pilro can screw up... Carlo, Seedorf and Pirlo must leave ASAP!!!

This team has no ambition.... If our players and coach will alow Maldini to finish his career with a loss at San Siro then I have nothing else to add........
its a joke mate, roma are quicker and more fluid tha us, there is so much stagnant deadwood in our squad
Filipez

I started watching again a minute before roma scored the 1-0. PATHETIC first half!! Like we've seen so many the last 3 years. This team does not show any passion or motivation at all.
dunno bout you guys but im watching it on omnisport.com, and it showed the players in the tunnel, they all looked so down and dejected, noone is up for this except pato and inzaghi by the looks of it

Without doubt we will finish fourth now - this team will go to Firenze, play for 0-0 and lose again. I warned you all that May would be a terrible month for us - drew with Juve, lost to Udinese, now we are losing to Roma at home, next Fiorentina away.
Whatever players are left, they better cancel their August holidays cos we're going to be playing preliminary rounds

Milan just have no energy, despite only playing one game per week. Even Kaka doesnt want to run...
Dario
24th May 2009, 14:59
We should swap half our players for half the players in Arsenal's youth team - then both teams would be better balanced!
yeah, i dont know what the answer is, i watched a very intresting programme on sky about theftpool, and how they evolved since the 60s, through shankly, paisley, fagan and dalglish, but then souness fucked it all up co he binned all the old players, and basicaly started again, so im not sure that would suit us, all i would like to see in the side next year from tonights showing is flamini, kaka, pato, with max, beckham and inzaghi on the bench, we need a lot of new investment.
i am looking forward to seeing thiago silva, Maldini rates him very highly, i would send carlo to rome with pirlo and ask for aquillani in return, maybe sign adebayor, but NOT at the expense of KAKA as some crazy forums have said!!!!!!!!!
If not, then keirrison, actually fuck adebayor, his attitude stinks. Aquillani, flamini and gourcuff would be a nice midfield

I hope we'll loose 1-0 next week. so that we are qualified for the CL, but that would give a signal for changes! it was all 'positive' before our last 3 games, and the management could yet again hide themselfves behind our (at that moment) recent results. I hope its clear now that we need to get rid of carlo ASAP, together with many deadwood who are totally useless for Milan.

There is no mystery behind this drop in form. We had easy games in April and difficult games in May, so it is no surprise we are in this mess.

Its this type of rhetoric that is in part responsible for the recent crap performances.
Why should anyone try to win when apparently they are retiring, or going to be sacked, or will be released or sold in the next few weeks. NOT THERE PROBLEM, they will be elsewhere from Milan 8-[
Dont understand how Carlo is to blame when Kaka plays SHIT for weeks on end..........
Like I stated last week, motivation is low. Players just want the season to end so they can move on

Very sad. We could do the unthinkable and bottle it yet again! Ridiculous!
And this is a pathetic Serie A. Don't forget that. This Serie A is nothing to talk home about.
Dario is spot on. When the screws were tightened ever so slightly in May, Milan started showing obvious signs of how far we lag behind the others ... the others who themselves are so weak.
Roma was our bitch in the San Siro for over a decade! Now, in the last 2 to 2-3 years, they come here and play like they are playing at home.
Maldini deserved a better farewell. A much better farewell.
Now, we could mess it up in Florence big time!! Carlo is 100% gone and may not be the coach for the last game. But the case in point is that he CAN NOT be made the scapegoat for this shit.
Berlusphony and Gaylliani need to take a good look at themselves for putting us into this situation.
I am telling you right now. We need to get rid of 13 odd players. RUTHLESS is the only way out now. GAYLLIANI has to leave as well IMO.
For Milan to start a new era a lot has to be changed.
Let's see if we can blow it in Florence now. Those buggers will be revved up like there is no tomorrow and the scoreline is within reach!
And to think ... we had a few believing that we could win the Scudetto only a few weeks ago.
MILAN HAS WON 1 BIG GAME THIS SEASON. That was against Inter. That's a pathetic record for this same team that used to own the Seven Sisters and blow it against the Chievos and Lecces.
The hurtful thing is that these other Seven Sisters are all pathetic as well. It's not a big muscle Serie A. We have a lot of work to do.
Just be ruthless and start castrating.

Milan Ultras Leave Black Mark On Maldini Celebrations
24 May 2009 16:50:27
During his final salute to the Milan faithful, the Rossoneri Ultras revealed an undeserved stain of contempt towards their most loyal servant…
After Roma had refused to follow the script by running out 3-2 winners on Maldini’s final day out at the San Siro, came another twist in the party celebrations, as the Curva Sud displayed a banner that was sure to spark controversy.
As the legendary captain did a final lap of honour after the game, the Milan Ultras displayed a large banner directed towards another legendary captain, Franco Baresi. Under a large number 6, the words “there is only one captain” were there for all to see.
At the same time, there were even some whistles from the same section of the stands in a display of unbelievable disrespect for a captain who has given a life of service to the Rossoneri.
Despite the disrespect of the Curva, the remainder of the stadium gave a prolonged standing ovation to Maldini, who was quite obviously moved by their display of affection.
---------------------------
I guess for some Baresi represents all that is Milan. I am one of them. Saying that, I do think that Maldini should have gotten a standing ovation from one and all because this was supposed to be his final time on the San Siro pitch and he has been a great player for Milan for 2 and a half decades. He is a legendary player of the game and an absolute legend for Milan. He should have retired in Athens which was a great night for one and all Milanista. Instead, because of his delay he has lost the last game at home against a pathetic Roma side in a season to be forgotten. I feel sorry but he could have avoided all this heartache IMO.
Dario
24th May 2009, 19:10
If he wanted to keep playing, that is his decision. 40 years old and his career is over - he should be allowed to play until he feels he can't continue anymore. Plus we've had worse defenders than him in the last two seasons - so its not like we would have been better without him.
Yes Baresi was a better Captain but without doubt, Maldini was the better player.
The Curva got this totally wrong. Everyone who whistled at him today is a f***ing ungrateful cu*t.
Kaka has always said he wanted to be the symbol of Milan. But if this is how we treat our greatest ever symbol, he is better off in Madrid or Manchester United.
Today was a dark enough day because of the hapless performance - we didn't need the fans to disgrace themselves too!
Milanman
24th May 2009, 19:34
Against Fiorentina in the last round we must avoid to get the 4th place. We can't allow a nother pathetic summer we had in 2006. We must qualify to the group-stage or else we won't be able to strenghten the team properly!(It's not an easy task to sign the best players in the dieing stages of the transfermarket, becouse until our qualif. is not sure we won't be able to tempt the w-class players!)
Then, we can start the making of the new Milan. Becouse how Kaka' said, an Era was ended! Maldini retires(I'm sorry for him in every meaning and th curva Sud boo-boys can s*ck my c*ck) and we must let Carlo go too. After his gone we must sign the best possible coach. I wouldn' t say any names becouse i can't see globally the market of free or available coaches!
After we release Ancelotti we must do this with some of our players. Kalac, Favalli, Kaladze, Jankulovski, Seedorf, Ronaldinho, Shevchenko, Borriello, Viudez, Cardacio are totally unneeded. Then we must replace them with players who has the ability and the wish of glory. Who have the right motivation.
After all this we must hope that the new coach will do his best to forge a winner team. Perhaps the first year will tough and without any trophies but with the proper work in 2 years time we can be glorious again in the CL and/or in the Serie A!
And who knows maybe with some luck we can win something in the first year. Let's hope in this!
Forza Milan!!!

Let me tell you a couple of three things (my absolute favorite line from the Sopranos, Haroon what did you think of this show, I can not believe you like that piece of shit of a show 30Rock!!!???).
Maldini. My absolute No.2 Favorite player of all time (right after the one and only MVB). Unfortunately he was infected with the “MJ” virus. This virus attacks great athletes in their latter years and obstructs their judgment with their retirement decision. For those of you, who subscribe to New England Journal of Medicine, look for more on this dangerous mental disorder in the upcoming issue, where I present my findings based on such examples as Michael Jordan, Chris Chelios, Brett Favre and Paolo Maldini…. It is page-turner must-read read….
Nevertheless this game was not about points, CL spot or anything else. It was about a great player. And those in the stands who do not understand that can go and fuck themselves. You are a scum and I pity you. Today was not the time to voice your, however valid, concerns you might have about our management in general and Maldini in particular. You disrespected a great player and a great person!! For that I will hire an old Indian witch and have her cast a curse on you and your children and their children….
On the other hand I think that the rest of this Milan team, and the coaching staff did exactly the same. Talk about lack of motivation, respect, and ambition. They should be ashamed of themselves and beg Maldini for forgiveness (those of them who are religious should offer themselves onto a pilgrimage to the Holly Land this summer instead of lying their lazy asses on the beach at Maui). This was an official funeral of an era. The King is Dead! Long live the King (one can only hope)!!
Carlo must leave. This is a start. Next in line are: Dida, Sheva, R80, Senderos, Favalli, Kalac and all these young talents like Cardacio etc.. Seedorf is an absolute must departure. He is nothing short of a tourist who is here on side seeing tour. Pirlo is also a must departure IMO. His last 3 seasons have been pathetic. I mentioned this before but it is totally unacceptable for our playmaker to have one assist and one goal whole season. And what makes me more upset in his case is that he has a gift from God. He is one of the most naturally talented and gifted players I have ever seen kick the ball around. It is nothing short of a mortal sin what he is doing with this gift.
I have spent no expenses at venting me feelings towards Carlo, Seedorf and Galliani. But after today I must says I am really scared to see what has happened to Kaka. I thought last season was a fluke. But this season he is even worse. I know he had injuries and was forced to play in way too many games. Still, two years ago he was in a stratum of his own. Two levels above everybody else. Today I am scared to put him in the same sentence as C.Ronaldo (May God have mercy on my soul) or Leo Messi. He is so ordinary it is appalling. Our revival as a club is IMO 50% depended on him becoming the best player in the world again.
FORZA CAPITANO!!!!
FORZA MILAN!!!!

I think there is a very strong chance we finish 4th now. We have lost our last two games, confidence is very low and next week we play a very tough away game against a team with nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Preliminary Champions league rounds means our management has the perfect excuse not to spend any money.

There will be Kaka to insult I guess. :omg:
Pfffffftttt .... this is the worst season in Berlusphony's reign by far on and off the pitch. A season to forget. A dark chapter to erase.
1. Maldini abused and a big big striscione showing discontent over him.
2. Carlo abused. It was kind of his farewell game at San Siro as well. He should be thanked for his good time and we should look forward to a new day but his farewell was spoiled as well IMO.
3. Gaylliani abused and attacked but unsuccessfully so that is a negative IMO. :d
4. Berlusphony abused multiple times. "You used to buy the best but what will you buy now? Tissues?". :d
5. Trying to forcibly sell Kaka mid-season to a shitty team for bucket loads of cash.
6. Bringing in R80 and Shevchoker on pure emotion rather than football merit and then having a fireworks show.
7. Friendly in Hungary at a time when a week's rest would be handy.
8. Milan going from leading the Serie A after a few years to going to second and then literally on the verge of blowing it big time in the last game in Florence!
9. Maldini and Leonardo having a bad moment yesterday when Maldini shrugged him off with aggression. In-fighting within the team.
10. Shevchoker being preferred by a section in the Curva Sud to Maldini. It's like comparing a classic Rolls-Royce to a broken bicycle! An incredible amount hypocrisy in this just because the traitor scum gives free BJs to everybody.
11. Disrespect to Kaka with striscione of SELL KAKA after the guy has repeatedly said that he wants to finish his career in Milan.
12. Berlusphony saying that Gattuso should be the next captain as he is the perfect man to do it. He would be the first neanderthal to captain Milan ... that's for sure. Other than that I would think that Kaka is the perfect man to lead us rather than some caveman who huffs and puffs a lot. Look at the class and elegance of previous captains like Maldini, Rivera, Baresi, Maldini and then GATTUSO? :d Seriously? It should be Kaka now who can guarantee a starting spot rather than I Love Rangers. Heck, Nesta has shown more to Milan by not speaking once of Lazio rather than Gattuso who always speaks about Rangers when given the chance!
13. The usual media bullshit comments like We Rule the Market. We always buy Ballon D'Or winners. Semi Goals. We are the most winningest team on earth!
14. Only 1 win against a big opponent all season. Consistent plonking against the top sides in the WEAK and PATHETIC Serie A and the Noodle Cup ... i.e. UEFA Cup. Blowing the tie versus Werder after having a 2 goal comfortable lead to send them out!
15. Becoming the new circus and new Inter for 2 years now. Still going strong to continue on this path.
-----
Now you tell me whether Ancelotti is responsible for all of the above alone or not.
The club needs new owners, new management, new players and a fresh perspective. It wreaks of being rotten and stale from within inside. And this has been slowly building up since CALCIOPOLI. Everything went under from that point on. This is nature's way of punishment for cheating/trying to cheat and then cheating our way out of the right punishment.

from what i can gather, the curvas issue with maldini was that he supported the boards transfer policy whilst they like us wanted a rejuvinated passionate milan again. Milan has become an old boys network with buddies all playing together in one big bath, like R80, sheva, maldini, favalli, seedorf etc, now i have no issue with Maldini, he is my icon, and the man i respect in football above anyone else, but maybe he was from old school thinking.
I agree with you on kaka for captain, silvio is from old school thinking, it was seen as proper for the captain to be the loud shouty aggresive one, like adams, pearce, keane etc, but wengerw new policy of having fabregas as captain, is the way forward, to have the most influencial player as captain, not the loudest!
Sadly i dont feel kaka will be here next season!
Carlo has never been able to defend a lead, and lets be honest, had the game of football been 100 mins long would we have beaten pool in athens, cos as soon as the pressure is on, carlo teams crumble!
