View Full Version : CL 1/8 final: Arsenal vs Milan

Milan - Arsenal! i was hoping for this one

1212: Tie 1: Celtic versus Barcelona

1213: Tie 2: Lyon versus Manchester United

1214: Tie 3: Schalke versus FC Porto

1214: Tie 4: Liverpool versus Inter Milan. That is a big big one.

1215: Tie 5: AS Roma versus Real Madrid. That will most definitely not be easy for Madrid.

1216: Tie 6: Arsenal versus AC Milan. That will also be a humdinger. The young guns against the old guard, so to speak.

1217: Tie 7: Olympiakos versus Chelsea.

1218 Tie 8: Fenerbahce versus Sevilla.

------------------------------------------------------------

I was hoping for Liverpool vs Inter! and it is there! :D , 2 dirty fckin sides against eachother! wich means one is out for sure!

I and for us i was hoping for Arsenal, i think we can kick their A$$es. everybody says they are fantastic, blablabla, but we are much more experienced and will teach them a lesson!

I'm not happy at all.
I don't rate Arsenal as a threat but you forgot one point: from Jan 13 till Feb 13 we are gonna play 8 games which will get us tired and so unprepared for a tough CL match, we also don't rotate and have a weak bench.. That's why I wanted to avoid a top team now..

exactly look at last year, we where very lucky to draw celtic in this stage of the season. And besides that also the team arsenal is not something to be happy about, it's a strong energetic and tactical supreme team. we'll suffer against them for sure.

I'm looking forward to hear Haroon's opinion on this ^^ To bad that Henry isn't at Arsenal anymore :P

Anyhow, I think this is going to be a great game. Sure Arsenal is in a great form right now, but we'll see how they play in the spring. While for us, it can only get better.

I expect our experience will get us through, the only thing that worries me is if we're gonna be tired or not. Jan/Feb/March are gonna be packed with games for us so I hope that the management brings in 2-3 players and that Carlo rotates!

I think this is a great draw for us. We have already given up on Serie A and Coppa Italia. This means Carlo will rest Kaka, Pirlo, Nesta, Seedorf and keep them fresh for CL games. Should we loose against Arsenal Silvio will have no choice but to buy new players in the summer. One way of the other we win.

I am also very happy to see one of the Inter, Pool going home early in the stage. Should Inter win however I think they will have to be regarded as a very serious contender this year.

I first thought I was unhappy with the draw. But after letting it sink in, I think this would be a good draw for us. With how Arsenal play Milan should have plenty of space to create. Kaka should be able to terrorize Arsenal. It would also be great for Pippo. I think with his style he'll be able to take advantage of Arsenal's defenders. I'm not saying it will be easy but it is not impossible. Plus with Milan playing an English side there is a better chance of ESPN2 showing the game.

On paper this could be a very good game as both teams try and play football and not sit back like liverpoo.

It is a hard draw, perhaps the hardest draw, but if you want to win the CL and say you're the best you have to beat the best. I'm certainly looking forward to this:)

BTW anyone know how I could get tickets for the Emirates? I'm hoping to see if I can go and see this.

As a Spurs and Milan fan this has been a match that I have been looking forward to for a long time (hopefully one day I'll be alive to see Spurs vs Milan in the Champions League:)

I think this is the worst draw for Milan, as we struggle against teams with plenty of pace, movement and ability on the ball, like the PSV Eindhoven team of a few years ago.

We have beaten Man Utd twice and should have beaten Liverpool in both finals, but Arsenal are a different proposition and I believe Milan are better set up to deal with the way Man Utd and Liverpool play. The same with Chelsea, I think that would be close match, but they don't have the same attacking threat, playing at pace, that Arsenal have.

I really hope I am wrong and that we can control the game and take it to Arsenal. We must get at least a draw in the first game, but I think it is good news that Milan are home in the second match.

It's taken 17 years since I began supporting Milan to see this game and I hope we thrash them, unlike Spurs, who have only beaten them once since 1996 (hope that changes tomorrow).

when the draw was done and i thought about arsenal as i wrote indeed about their pace, tacticall fieldplay and speed.... i was also thinking about psv and how we suffered there ;( . horrible times, let's hope we can control them better. I'm not an expert concerning arsenal but i think their weak point is their defense

BTW anyone know how I could get tickets for the Emirates? I'm hoping to see if I can go and see this.

That's easy dawg!

You need to be a be a frequent flyer on Emirates as Arse-*nal is the b*tch of Emirates Airlines. :d ^^

This tie has given me a boner! :P I had to walk it off to let it sink. My only regret is that TITI the CHOKING Tit, Patricia "Louis Vuitton" Vieira and WilTOAD are no longer at the club.

Otherwise this was a sure-shot Milan victory with so much fun moments of choking by Arse-*nal.

This is somehow different and difficult. Difficult because I would have preferred facing stiffer opposition from the QF onwards rather than immediately after the break in the UCL.

We will have a heavy schedule but more than that is the thing how we do well in the Red Light Area of London. :d Man, that stadium is sooooooo RED ..... :P

I had a sneaky feeling that something was cooking when Emirates offered themselves to fly Milan. They were hoping somehow to draw Milan because that will be THE TICKET for Emirates to sky-rocket their popularity to compete against Etihad and Singapore Airlines when the European and World Champions play in their European Ticketing Office. ^^

Now getting on to the game ..... here are some facts we have to acknowledge as UNBIASED FANS.

1. Virginity
========
Arse-*nal is a UCL virgin club. :d The chances of them getting knocked up increase by the day which can't be good for seasoned playas like us.

2. Even Years
===========
Even years under Carlo have not been good in Cup competition.

2002: We got smacked 4-0 in Dortmund in the UEFA Cup SF first leg. Won the secong leg 4-1 but went out due to 1 goal.

2004: We smacked La Coruna 4-1 in the Home Leg only to get whooped 4-0 in the return leg going out by 1 goal in the UCL QF as defending champions.

2006: We missed a few chances and didn't capitalize on them for Barcelona to hurt us and inflict our first home loss in the UCL for 20 odd years. We went out by a goal once again in narrowly fought tie.

2008: I fear for this as I have a thing for numbers, patterns and similar voodoo $hit!! :d

Our last 2 leg loss was against Barcelona in the SF of 2005-6. As defending champions there is a lot of burden on our shoulders as is due to the weight of history. We are boldly try to go where no other club has gone before. Arse-*nal was a baby in womb of football when Milan was 6 times champion. They only had oral sex two seasons ago when they reached 3rd base in Paris. Some stupid refereeing caused Lehmann to go out and Barcelona won in the last 20 minutes due to Onree's choking through the game. Had it not been for his choking, The Arse would have been up 3-0 before Barcelona scored their opener. In any case, Onree is not a woman that he dives on the faintest touch. We all remember that. :d What a wuss! :P

3. The Team from Neverland
=====================

The current Arse team is prime meat for Michael Jackson and some say are directly imported from Neverland. 8| The thing with these kids is that they have no fear. They have no experience per se but having no fear is a big advantage as that can help in 1 out of 10 nights when you just go out to have fun. Experience helps over an entire campaign to plan it out and then execute it but being fearless gives you the razor's edge for a sharp cut on any night. We've had our fair share of deep cuts in the last 7 years when we just didn't have an answer for such a deep wound in lightning quick time.

4. Feb is far away
==============

Let's not judge the form in December or November. February is far away and the time to judge will start from Mid-Jan IMO. We have to be wary of a stretch of undefeated games (this would include the league and cup games as well) and then we have to revert back to the record in the UCL itself.

Long undefeated streaks are bad because they are meant to be broken.

5. Arse & Mourinho
==============

Arsenal never took three points off Mourinho's side. That is something that can be looked at. We should play our own game and towards our own strengths but it is noteworthy to see what was the reason why PG-13 Football Club couldn't get 3 points from Mourinho's side in multiple meetings.

6. Ancelotti and Arse-in Wan.ker
========================

Ancelotti is a smart coach at reading the opposition. Especially in the UCL. Note that I am saying reading the opposition. Executing a plan can be wrong but the first step is to read the opposition correctly. In that respect he is better than Slur Alice, Rijkaard, Lippi, Hitzfeld, Del Bosque, Capello and on par with or slightly better than Mourinho.

This is something natural and it is a gift to him. He can read the opposition very well. The point about applying a plan to nullify the opposition can be correct but he is pretty clueless when the plan goes wrong in the middle of the game. For that he has no answers and only luck saves us, if that.

Arse-in Wan.ker likes Frog's Legs first and foremost. He is a voyeur. :d:d We must be wary of voyeurs. LMAO. His belief is to play beautiful football and worry about the result later on. So the onus is on technical gameplay with keeping the ball on the ground with fluid passing. No kick and rush football, no long balls etc like other EPL sides with absolutely clueless and uncreative midfields.

Milan is heavily built on technical gameplay as well. But we are nowhere near as fast as the Kids on nandrolone. However, the past has shown us that when Milan wants, we can control the tempo of the game.

It will be interesting for sure.

7. Milan and the UCL
================

Milan is the flag-bearer of the UCL. No other club has a history so evenly distributed over the decades like Milan. There is a continuous reminder by Milan in all but one decade unlike other clubs who have two eras of orgies winning a truckload and then hibernating for decades.

We are the team of the decade so far and that will have an effect on the opposition no matter what one says or does. The intimidating factor is there but so is the desire to do well against such a team because a big scalp is always mouth-watering.

I would like us to go to the Airlines Agency inside the big RED GATE and try to win the game in that silent graveyard. That is not a probable thing in all honesty but we should try to do it. The fact of the matter is that we could go out of this competition as the hoodoo of UCL winners is there but I hope that we go to Moscow and win the Big One again to add to our glorious history.

These guys are not chokers now because they have eradicated the loser mentality links like Onree, Patricia, A. Hole, WilTOAD, David Semen, Gay Parlour and replaced them with winners. The passing is world class and I don't use that word often.

Milan has been written off many times but come back against the odds. I just fear the even year thing and the burden of being defending champions.

It would have been great to see the above list playing so that we could wipe the floor with these punks to make it convenient for boarding passengers in a clean arena but those punks are gone now choking elsewhere.

Let's see how it pans out next year. In the meantime I will use this thread to express my thoughts from time to time as they come. I'm more excited than worried to be honest. It's so disrespectful to pit us against such miserly opposition. :P Where's the R-E-S-P-E-C-T??? :d

Brick & Filli ... Thanks guys! ^^

I must state that I think Milan has accepted UEFA's vision of teaching kids of what a model club should be.

Milan is UEFA and actually FIFA's vision of a what a football club should be. How a club should act professionally and how to use local players.

Let me discuss in detail here for a clearer vision!

Milan had a bad ref decision from Merk versus Barcelona but we acted professionally instead of moaning. There is no voyeurism in Milan even though our cousins have voyeurism in them to an extent. :P

We don't have press comments like Arse-in Wan.ker denying that he didn't see the incident on the pitch! :d

Plus we have Italians on the pitch. Milan is first and foremost an Italian club with an Italian culture and Italian ambience. It's a stylish club. Our club goes to Dubai for relaxing while they go to Toys R' Us for crying out loud! :d

UEFA wants other clubs to mature and grow like Milan and what better way than to pit Arsenal against Milan. This is a part of their learning process. They will go to the Milan school and get taught the arts of culture, science, pressure handling and how to conduct yourselves before, during and after a game.

Who doesn't like Toys? Everybody does but there is something considerably wrong when Onree plays on his PS3 (Yes, he has a PS3 because he is dumb. A smarter guy would have gone for the 360) and then complains to EA Sports on why his finishing in the last third is not mirroring reality. He even chokes in the video games! :P:P

There is something wrong when Onree makes ads and says Va Va Voom as the tagline!!! :d Everybody knows that he doesn't drive a Renault! So why the hypocricy? Why endorse a product which you actually don't give two hoots about? :P

That's the thing. Onree being a senior player was ruining the youth at Arse-*nal. So the needful had to be done. UEFA had to intervene and then request Milan to play against the Gunners so that they learn a thing or two what a STORIED FOOTBALL CLUB should be.

Arse-In can promise his boys a private screening of Shrek the Third if they win against Milan but that will not be the defining moment of the tie!!!

The key question that is in my mind right now is ....

"What will the Arse-*nal squad think when they know that it will be past their bedtime when Sky Sports is analyzing, discussing and showing the highlights after the game(s) end??" 8|:P:d

That has to be cruel ... maaan!! :P

The Wise Old Owl is coming to town to teach the young ladybird a thing or two about flying.

It's the best draw for Milan! :)

Because Arsenal plays very beautiful, combinative, high-speed, open football. It's what Kaka and Co needs for rapid counter-attacks ;) That's why Milan plays better in Europe than in Serie A.

don't be to excited about this, i certainly aren't happy with this draw

i dont fear arsenal, man utds pace and attacking play was supposed to undo us, but they got beat 3-0. They have less experiene in their entire team than we do in our captains left testicle. As Rosso rightly says, there play will help us. They have many predigious talents, but no true champios as yet, they will fear us

Haroon

Drew,
I partially agree with your assessment. Being too young gives you an advantage and that is "No Fear". I can assure you right now that Disneyland will not fear us! :d They're too young to know what fear is.

Babies like to put their hands in fire because of the light. They don't fear it unless they get burned. These kids have not got burned. I don't think they will have fear.

The one edge they will have is their passing. It is different to Utd. Utd. has pace in their game and lots of it but Arsenal's game is based on quick one touch passing which is totally exclusive in the EPL. Their pace is because of that factor.

Milan really has to keep good possession to hurt Arsenal bad in this one.

The thing in Milan's favour is that Arsenal like to attack and we can do well against such teams. However a goal rout is also possible in such a case. Milan really has to play with the nerves of Arsenal. Keep possession, build up the play and then hit them hard on a counter. We like open teams who like to "play".

Frustrating them will help us. Their Froggy coach is already boasting a bit too much. He doesn't know jack about UCL competition. We must take advantage of this factor.

The edge of Highbury's narrow pitch is not there anymore. The airport is much wider. The Duty Free Shop in the Emirates Ticketing Branch is open 24 hours so Arsenal doesn't know a thing about SHUTTING UP SHOP!!! :d:d:d

Damn ... I am loving the irony and analogies coming out of this tie! :P

LOL. I dont think arsenal will be able to handle the occasion, and when faced with a whos who of champions league legends, and worldplayer of the year, there free flowing football ould become all the more broken up and disturbed. Wenger has always spoke to much, usually coming second to jose or fergie, let the paedophile talk, they have a shaky keeper like we do, inexpoerience, and no real goal threat, adebayor is ok in the prem, but IMO not that good. They tend to destroy weak teams, but they will fear us. They try to walk the ball in the net, and are no longer in control of the prem, utd have eroded there lead, i expect them to finish 2nd or 3rd.

For once, I'm actually rather confident that Milan will prevail if Arsenal don't have an exceptional good day, and Milan and exceptional bad UCL-day. With that said, I have great respect for Arsenal, I simply think their kind of game and inexperience could prove decisive for a Milan win.

They do, however, pose a great threat. Yes, Milan destroyed Manchester United but they aren't anything like Arsenal. Every since Spalletti took over Roma, Milan have been more or less destroyed by their fast play with players and the ball in constant movement.

Arsenal's play is mor similiar to Roma's, in that matter, than Manchester United. They run the sh!t out of Milan and I'm not sure the midfield and defence can keep up.

But, Arsenal isn't that good on closing down space, which would work extremley well for Pirlo, Seedorf and in particular, Kaká and Inzaghi.

As I said, I am more confident than I use to be. If that's a bad sign or not, I can't tell. :p It will in any case of the result, be a great game between two sides that want to play football (at least at San Siro, in England I guess Milan will play extremley tactical. :D)

Can you imagine how many of the Arse-**** children will start crying when Seedorf decides to let his Big Kahuna out and swat it across the face of each of these kids like a whip!!! :P

Yeah good post Gurre, also i dont think arsenal will like a physical game, i really think Gattuso can do one on fabregas, he is class but has little physical presence, if we get at them at the emirates, and give them a few hard but fair knocks, we can establish ourselves

Giuseppe_S
5th January 2008, 17:37
Arsenal are no doubt a great team, i mean their premiership record speaks for its self, i'm still not convinced that our lads could pull out a win especially since the 1st leg will be played in the emirates, then on the other hand even though Arsenal have a young squad and are currently sitting pretty atop of the premiership they lack the european experience and thus they could very well get caught under fire against such an experienced team such as our guys, i will be more than happy with a draw at the ems and then just pelt them at the san siro because we do have a good record for home wins at the san siro in europe so far. But the 1st major task is to overcome the gunners in their own backyard.

FORZA MILAN!!! :d

p.s would also like to add that to be fair aresnal didnt really have much competition in the group stage, the only tough challenge they had was Sevilla and even they beat arsenal.

Exactly drew. Arsenal isn't a bunch of kids, they are top of the Premiership for a reason.

I concur as well. The Arse must be respected. It is one of nature's most beautiful gifts! :d

On a serious note ... we should respect our rivals before a key game. They are slight favourites in the tie at this moment IMO.

Arsenal isn't a bunch of kids,

You bite your tongue! ^^ Michael Jackson's Neverland Europe Branch in London is in Ashburton Grove! :P

they are top of the Premiership for a reason.

and the reason is either nandrolone or they are next generation precision robots! :P They run too much for human beings. They should be investigated.

my confidence comes from there lack of experience, and there need to play pretty ALL the time, if we can be physical, they dont have a proven goal scorer, especially at this level

definately show respect, however there is 6 weeks yet before the game. I think a lot of analysis and banter this early on will do absolutely nothing

They lost the final to Barcelona two seasons ago in Paris. Maybe you don't consider Villareal a worthy SF opponent for Arsenal so you consider that final a formality or something similar! :d
