Ronaldo's San Siro goal debut, I hope :D
Gazzetta mentions:
Kalac
Oddo Bonera Kaladze Janku
Rino Pirlo Seedorf
Kaka
Oliveira Ronaldo
Even tho I'd like to see Gourcuff replace Seedorf but I don't see it happening.. A win is vital here, 3 days later we face Palermo away who play away at Atalanta today without Corini and Di Michele..

We won't play Kaladze since he is injured along with Maldini. THey didn't make the team. On the up Gourcuff, Ambro, Gatty and Pilro have all been included in the team, when they are sick with tempreture. I reckon Pirlo will start on the bench so he can rets and Gourcuff play. Simic alongside Bonera in teh centre!
Strange team, I hope the players will manage!

Apparently Oddo didn't touch him. And Ronaldo has just been taken out yet nothing happened!8[

HT: 0-0. Considering that we were a man down for the majority of the half, we played quite well, creating far more than Samp. Now the sides are even, I expect no excuses.

25th February 2007, 20:25
Points of note in that first half:
1: Oddo is not only a rubbish player, but a complete idiot as well. What a stupid challenge - he was holding Bonizolli who had every right to go down. Deserved red card. Why are our players acting like trumpets? First Gila on Tuesday and now this?
2: The Jekyll and Hyde nature of Dida emerges. First he flaps wildly at a cross, then produces one of the saves of the season.
3: Falcone MIGHT consider himself unlucky to be off - I think Kaka's momentum threw him to the floor as much as the challenge did.
4: Ronaldo's not a dirty player, but that stamp on the Sampdoria player LOOKED really nasty. Had it been an Emerson or Vieira type we'd all be screaming for a red card.
5: We've played ALRIGHT I suppose. Not enough cutting edge up front though, although perhaps that's understandable given we were down a man until Falcone's red.
6: Seedorf continues to be the most frustrating player in Serie A: he is just capable of so much more but all too often is lethargic, careless, and downright uninterested.
Danny
25th February 2007, 20:26
Hm, I thought it was Falcone red carded, not Olivera.
GattusoKing
25th February 2007, 20:32
I originally thought it was Falcone as well.
Ronaldo's momentum made for that unfortunate little stamp, IMO. I don't think it was anything malicious.
Gurre
25th February 2007, 20:33
It was Olivera who was expelled and who was involved in the challenge. He also got a yellow card when he was down injured, the first one. For what I'm not sure.
I doubt Ronaldo's stepping on Falcone was on purpose. We would scream for red for it if it was Vieira or Emerson because they are son of wh0res, Ronaldo isn't.

25th February 2007, 20:42

Milan are stuck, they need a change IMO.
GattusoKing
25th February 2007, 20:52
Ronaldo needs help up front, and Max needs to be deported. Clarence is also crying out to be replaced.
Gurre
25th February 2007, 20:54
And Kaká, unfortuneatly as usual I would say, doesn't show any glimpse of worldclass. He hasn't for some time.
GattusoKing
25th February 2007, 20:55
Pirlo for Clarence. Another dire display.

Though I see your point. He would with his intensity be the right player at this stage.

Actually, I'll take up the offer for his boots and dump them in the hazardous waste disposal unit. He can keep his head though; that proves quite useful sometimes.
We proved more dynamic with 10 men but a win's a win's a win.

Ambrosini scored but his game wasn't impressive. He couldn't even nearly fill the shoes of Pirlo (nor could Seedorf, it was pretty obvious today what difference in playmaking Pirlo does for Milan), his passings were terrible and he also missed a couple of good chances.
He scored, that saves him today.

Well, he was awf.... not so go..... not in form today, but since he scored, and that is what matters here, and therefore saved our asses for me he is MoM tonight.
I can't really understand Carlo's reasoning tonight. Same with the Lazio game a couple of weeks ago. These games are very important because of the situation we're in. The players must think that the only thing possible in this games is a win. No chicken draws. And the coach must help them with it. Carlo did everything wrong today IMHO.

Exactly. As Carlo said, Max has unique qualities within this squad
With Ambro in the squad we need nine midfielders, because he is injury prone, but it's worth it, as he can be very decisive also coming in from the bench.
Grazie Ambro:applauso:
Despite so often being dubbed "useless" you made the way for Istanbul, and now you can take us to the Champions League next season.:flag:

I was flipping back and forth between Milan and River Plate for the first 12 minutes or so, though I did catch Oddo's red card. How was Oliveira before he got subbed off? Did he do anything useful that I may have missed?
Dida was great this game, which I really didn't expect. Some truly excellent saves. But Milan overall... not a pretty game, but a win's a win (grazie, Ambro) and I'll happily take the three points.
And I'd like to be the first to point out that Ronaldo was awful today. Half the time that anyone sent a ball into the area, Ronaldo wasn't just poorly positioned, he wasn't there at all. It's truly a shame Pippo wasn't subbed in earlier-- he looked faster, much more fit, and positioned himself extremely well. Given the kind of chances Ronaldo was given over the course of the match, I expect Pippo could have done a far better job of finishing them.
Anyway, we're in fifth now, and that's great. FORZA MILAN!!

come on! i know you are Pippo/Gila fan but Ronaldo wasnt awful....he wasnt great but did average performance... Nothing really bad...

26th February 2007, 23:34
obviously his fitness level is still below par. and the fact that Carlo had to sacrifice Oliveira meant Ronaldo had to work harder by himself and that didn't work out too good. But, I thought his performances was acceptable.
At halftime I was screaming sub Ambro, luckily Carlo didn't listen to me :D.

come on! i know you are Pippo/Gila fan but Ronaldo wasnt awful....he wasnt great but did average performance... Nothing really bad...
Well, let me put it this way--
- If Borriello had that performance: "Why is this guy still on our team?"
- If Inzaghi had that performance: "More proof that he's over."
- If Oliveira had that performance: "Don't forget he's having personal problems."
- If Gilardino had that performance: "OH MY GOD WHAT UTTER CRAP, SELL HIM NOW!"
:P
It's true, Ronaldo's performance could have been even worse, but IMO it still was bad. You're a Ronaldo fan and I'm a Pippo/Gila fan, so naturally both of our biases are showing, but I don't like how Milan (meaning Carlo, Silvio, acmilan.com, etc., as well as some fans) coddle this out-of-shape Ronaldo-- to the extent that saying anything negative about him is practically taboo-- while practically tossing aside any other strikers we have who happen to not be Brazilian. If Gilardino did what Ronaldo did in the Samp game, he'd be crucified. He's been crucified before for much less.
